Laval, October 5, 2011 – Tourisme Laval has awarded a grant in the amount of $200,000 to Cavalia to allow the presentation in Laval of the new production, Odysseo. This grant falls under the Tourism Regional Partnership Agreement signed in 2009 with the ministère du Tourisme, Tourisme Laval, the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ) of Laval, the City of Laval, Emploi-Québec and the ministère des Affaires municipales, des Régions et de l’Occupation du territoire.
This four-year agreement for a total of $1,050,000 has for objective to encourage investments in the development of major regional projects. Thanks to this agreement Tourisme Laval can contribute to Laval region’s economic and social development, and support tourism-related initiatives, thus strengthening the position of Laval as an important player on Québec’s tourism scene.
“When Cavalia raises its big top in a city, it creates numerous jobs and has important economic repercussions. Laval being the first city to host this new production of international scope represents a major asset. In addition Laval will enjoy great visibility and incredible media coverage of national and regional scope,” says Andrée Courteau, President and General Manager of Tourisme Laval.
Tourisme Laval represents some 200 Laval companies and organizations involved in the tourism industry. As a key player in a constantly growing industry, Tourisme Laval contributes to the development of Laval as a tourist destination, works at strengthening its position on the international, national and regional scene, ensures a leadership in terms of hospitality planning and the promotion of attractions, and plays an important role as a unifying and rallying agent towards its members and partners, always from a sustainable development perspective.
