In addition to the Mondial Choral Loto-Québec, one of the biggest cultural events in Québec, Laval is also home to literature, theatre, painting, sculpture, music and humour. Art in all its forms is alive and well and living in Laval. Summer festivals and special art shows leave no doubt that culture is present everywhere.
During summer, the historical neighbourhood of Sainte-Rose comes alive with art. At the beginning of August the town centre showcases an event involving over a hundred painters and sculptors called the Symposium de peinture et de sculpture de Sainte-Rose. The event, which takes place in the heart of Sainte-Rose and along the picturesque Mille-Îles River, makes it possible for these artists to share their passion for the arts with an ever growing public of fascinated visitors. Live creations and daily expositions punctuate the richly diversified programming of these cultural weeks in Sainte-Rose.
Later, around mid-August, more than 120 craftsmen from all over Québec, and beyond, will exhibit their creations (leather, skins, glass, metals, paper, basket-making, wood, enamel on copper, stained-glass window and other materials) during the Semaine des Artisans.
