Major expansion of BIXI in Laval: from 26 to 75 stations

Laval, September 11, 2024 — The City of Laval is proud to announce a significant expansion of the BIXI bike-sharing network within its jurisdiction for 2024–2025, with the deployment of 49 new stations. Once this expansion is complete, Laval’s bike-sharing fleet will include 632 standard bicycles and 219 electric-assist bicycles distributed across 75 stations throughout the city.

A Significant Investment in Sustainable Mobility

To carry out this expansion, the City of Laval awarded a $4 M negotiated contract, demonstrating its commitment to investing in sustainable and innovative infrastructure. This ambitious project is partially funded by the Financial Assistance Program for the Development of Active Transportation in Urban Areas (TAPU) as part of the 2030 Green Economy Plan.This essential financial support of $1.9 million covers nearly 50% of the investment.

The BIXI bike-sharing season in Laval will continue through mid-November. Of the total number of new stations, 10 will be installed this year. The remaining 39 stations will be installed at the start of the 2025 season.
