Geneviève Roy will step down as head of Tourisme Laval

Laval, August 9, 2023 – After ten years of outstanding leadership at the helm of Tourisme Laval, Geneviève Roy has announced her departure to pursue a new professional opportunity. She will leave the organization on September 8, leaving behind an undeniable legacy of success and growth within Laval’s tourism industry.

During her tenure, Geneviève Roy demonstrated exceptional passion and dedication to the development and promotion of Laval as a tourist destination. Under her leadership, Laval’s tourism industry experienced remarkable growth, with impressive occupancy rates at hotels, which helped Laval rank among the top-performing regions in Quebec.

His visionary leadership has been a key driver in establishing Laval as a leading destination among Quebec’s tourist regions in the areas of leisure, business, and sports tourism.

Geneviève Roy has also demonstrated exceptional resilience during difficult times, particularly during the health crisis. She has led with courage, empathy, and adaptability, turning challenges into opportunities and providing stability for her team. Her leadership skills have also helped maintain sound financial management within the organization, despite the obstacles.

AN EXPERIENCED MANAGER

The chairman of the board of directors of Tourisme Laval, Mr. Yanick Pazzi, highlighted Ms. Roy’s essential role within the organization: “We commend Geneviève’s generous contribution to the company as well as her outstanding collaboration with various stakeholders, which has been of great benefit to the organization. The management team and the board are sincerely grateful to her for her dedication and hard work. Among Geneviève Roy’s notable achievements during her term in office are:

  • The creation and establishment of the Business Tourism Development Fund and the Fund to Boost International Business Tourism, totaling $12.5 million, to support the hosting of business events in Quebec’s regions from 2021 to 2026;
  • The creation and implementation of approximately ten assistance programs totaling $5 million—including EPRT, EDNET, FSTCV, EPRNT, PAFEA, and PSE—to support the development of tourism businesses from 2014 to 2023;
  • The launch of a synergy incubator for Laval Ambassadors (L2L) to support the hosting of business events in 2022;
  • The development of a regional sales force , from 2012 to 2023;
  • The creation of new products and services, including the Social Media Management Service, the Benefits Card – Privileges for Tourism Professionals, the Attractions Passports, and the Strategic Insights Service;
  • The creation and implementation of Laval SportCité, a marketing organization aimed at positioning Laval as a sports event destination, from 2015 to 2023.

Geneviève Roy’s legacy will live on at Tourisme Laval her work laid the foundation for a strong and innovative organization. The selection process for this position begins today. A recruitment committee has been formed and will work with the firm Bédard Ressources. Ms. Roy will provide support during the transition period to ensure a smooth handover.
