Laval, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 — For its12thedition, the Laval Firefighters’ Run saw a record number of registrations, with more than 9,100 runners of all ages and skill levels participating in the event. This represents an increase of 2,500 participants compared to last year.
The race participants raised more than $61,000 for the Quebec Firefighters’ Foundation for Severe Burn Victims (FPQGB), a significant amount to which the event’s proceeds will be added in the coming days.
All the races culminated at the finish line, located right in the heart of Laval’s Great Firefighters’ Festival, where a festive and educational experience awaited young and old alike throughout the weekend.
It’s worth noting that in the marathon, Shazan Lefebvre took first place in the men’s division with an impressive time of 2 h 44 min 15 s. Florence Thibodeau was the first woman to cross the finish line after completing the distance in just 3 h 10 min 56 s.
In the half marathon, it’s worth noting that Nicolas Riopel and Joëlle White took the top spot on the podium.

On that scorching day, Laval-based ultramarathoner Manuel Cabral, one of the race’s ambassadors, ran a 100-km course. His titanic effort raised more than $5,500 in donations for the Quebec Firefighters’ Foundation for Severe Burn Victims (FPQGB).
As for the team of 60 firefighters from across Quebec who took part in a 300-km relay between Quebec City and Laval, they rose to the challenge by running the distance in just over 60 hours despite the weekend’s high temperatures. The participants each ran a 5-km leg in their full firefighting gear (weighing up to more than 50 lb) to raise over $71,000 for the FPQGB. Alexis Dufour, a firefighter with the Laval Fire Department (SSIL) and holder of the world record for the fastest half-marathon in full firefighting gear, set in 2023, completed this feat late Sunday evening.
