Culture rocks downtown Laval for the 2nd edition of the Momo cultural station
Laval, June 19, 2024 - Following the resounding success of its first edition, the Momo cultural station will return to the Montmorency sector, in the heart of downtown Laval, from August1 to September 29. The station will occupy a new space, just as green and welcoming: the Place Bell public square, a stone's throw from last year's location. Some 30 free and varied activities and events will be offered to suit all tastes: music, circus and comedy shows, urban dance battles, improv theater, DJ sessions and much more.
"The Momo cultural station offers a place to socialize, work, relax and have fun, while taking a break from the sun! For two months, this not-to-be-missed meeting place will be offering attractive atmospheres and events thanks to the collaboration of multiple partners. The station allows us to take full advantage of our downtown while offering an opportunity to make culture a strong development lever for this area, which is being transformed into a flagship cultural hub."
- Flavia Alexandra Novac, Sainte-Rose city councillor in charge of cultural affairs
"The Momo cultural station is the perfect showcase to promote the art, creativity and innovation that characterize Laval, while enhancing downtown's appeal as a must-see entertainment destination. I invite Laval residents and visitors alike to participate in large numbers."
- Christopher Skeete, Minister for the Economy, Minister responsible for the Fight against Racism and Minister responsible for the Laval region
A colorful cultural offering
A diverse range of memorable events will be featured in the programming, including a number of special events. These include the station's kick-off event with rapper Calamine, and the back-to-school Block Party organized by Aire commune, featuring performances and DJ sessions. The station will also vibrate to the rhythm of the MOSAÏQUE festival, with three musical and festive evenings dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity through the arts. L'Entre-deux artistique will feature lunchtime performances, while several terrace evenings will be enlivened by DJ performances in the Momo Mix series. Co-Motion will present Co-Motion Thursdays, a varied program featuring rap, humor and urban dance, in the company of 7Starr. The Momo cultural station is also a new destination for families with the presentation of Momo en famille, featuring three circus shows that will provide unforgettable moments for the audience.
Landscaping with multiple functions
Designed by event design firm Aire commune, the Momo cultural station is inspired by the quintessential four elements of nature: water, earth, air and fire. The site will offer a unique experience with terraces, a play area with self-service games, relaxation and work spaces, in addition to several shaded and planted areas. Some forty planters containing over 200 perennials, shrubs and trees will help transform the site into a veritable green oasis, as well as counteracting heat islands. A bar service will also be available at certain events, and it will be possible to dine on site. More than twenty restaurants are within easy reach of the station, so there's something for everyone.
The Momo cultural station is an invitation to experience the Montmorency sector and downtown Laval differently, a stop for all Lavallois and Lavalloises, where art and culture intermingle on a daily basis.
