The City is acquiring a plot of land along the riverbank in Laval-Ouest to develop a public riverside area

Laval, May 3, 2022 — The municipal public domain has been expanded by 5,404.50^m² through the acquisition of a parcel of land located east of Arthur-Sauvé Boulevard, at the tip of the Berge des Goélands. On April 27, the executive committee approved the acquisition of this property, owned by the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change, for $1,108.73. Marking the entrance to the city from the Arthur-Sauvé Bridge, this natural site will be beautified and restored to its natural state over the next few years to make it accessible and enjoyable for residents.

It should be noted that in 2017, the City had already acquired 7,553^m² of land at this site. This new acquisition helps consolidate a public riverbank and contributes to the City’s goal of returning the riverbanks to Laval residents, in addition to being part of Laval’s Green and Blue Infrastructure Network. It should also be noted that demolition work to remove a parking lot and the foundations of a former building has also taken place over the past two years.
