Laval is ready to welcome 130,000 visitors for the 55th Quebec Games Finals
Laval, June 16, 2022 — After a two-year postponement, Laval, the proud host city of the55th Quebec Games Finals, is eagerly looking forward to welcoming the 130,000 visitors expected from July 22 to 30. Competitions will take place at 14 venues equipped with sports facilities that are sure to impress the 3,300 young athletes from across the province, as well as their coaches and chaperones. Organizations and volunteers are fully mobilized to welcome both athletes and spectators, who will be able to celebrate the Games by enjoying the rich sports and cultural program offered by the City and the event’s Organizing Committee.

This summer, get into the spirit of the Quebec Games
With free admission to all competition venues, spectators are invited in large numbers to celebrate the athletic and personal achievements of Quebec’s top young athletes. From July 22 to 26, the first session will feature track and field, basketball, baseball, swimming, beach volleyball, and cycling. The second block, taking place from July 26 to 30, will feature young athletes competing in golf, soccer, softball, archery, triathlon, mountain biking, and volleyball. Spectators are also invited to enjoy the full experience by attending the opening and closing ceremonies on July 22 and 30 at Place Bell.

The whole island is buzzing
To make the experience even more entertaining for participants and spectators, the City of Laval will offer a wide range of free cultural activities and entertainment at several competition venues. Everyone will be able to enjoy zany performances, stilt walkers, bicycle acts, percussion, and dance, the Bibliomobile, board games, tech activities from the Laval Libraries’ Mobile Studio, an exhibition on physical activity organized by the Armand-Frappier Museum, performances on public pianos, a series of athlete profiles by young reporters, and much more.

Highlights
- Notable among these projects are the new track and field facility at Claude-Ferragne Stadium in the Odyssée-des-Jeunes school park, the construction of eight new outdoor volleyball courts at the Bois-de-Boulogne Sports Centre, as well as the renovation of three baseball fields, two softball fields, and the archery range at Lévis-Paquette Park.
- Hosting this major event also provided support to sports organizations through a recovery plan for Laval’s sports associations and clubs, as well as the “Propulser l’espoir” program, which was launched to support the development of Laval athletes competing in the Quebec Games Finals.
- In total, the event is expected to generate more than $12 million in economic benefits for the region.
