Laval, July 18, 2022 – The MOSAÏQUE Laval Festival unveils the lineup for its second edition! From August 18 to 21, 2022, in the heart of the Saint-François neighborhood, festivalgoers are invited to come celebrate to the music of: Lara Klaus, Ghetto Kumbé, Laura Niquay, Waahli, Marieme, Ramon Chicharron, Pierre Kwenders, Rara Soley, Naxx Bitota, Dakka Dembélé, Shauit, and Odreii.

A spectacular lineup of dance performances, featuring Danza Descalza, Veils of Bollywood, and Ör Pür, brings this new inclusive and festive outdoor venue to life. Finally, the storytelling shows *Larenn Kongo* and *The Kingdom of Flowers* (Prensip Minokan) and *Finely Adapted Tales* ( Théâtre Motus) round out this edition, rich in cultural and artistic discoveries. The musical atmosphere is provided by DJs carefully selected by the experts at CISM89.3, while Stéphanie Robillard Sarganis and Cashboy Reg host the events.

A Major Event in Saint-François
This year, the MOSAÏQUE Laval Festival is heading east! The Saint-François neighborhood offers a smaller cultural scene than downtown Laval, and since part of La Centrale’s mission is to combat cultural desertification, this new location seems perfectly suited for such a major event. The festival’s second edition is therefore offered first to the residents of Saint-François, but the entire community is invited to this free, community-building event.

A spokesperson with a big heart
We are thrilled to be collaborating with Saint-François native actress and host Schelby Jean-Baptiste. Since her television debut in 2014, she has been part of successful casts—including Trauma, Unité 9, L’heure bleue, andPour toujours moins un jour —before making the leap to the big screen. Since 2021, she has been the host, creator, and co-director of the web series Pa t’mentir, airing on Tou.tv, which works to demystify and deconstruct certain taboos within Quebec’s Black and multiethnic communities.

Twice as Many Shows
While we presented 7 shows in 2021, this year 17 artistic groups will take the festival stage from August 18 to 21. More musical discoveries, dance, storytelling, a pop-up market, and a colorful, playful outdoor venue await those joining us this year. This is also an opportunity to launch the PANORAMA cultural mediation project, which aims to build bridges between recent immigrants and members of Laval’s host community.
