Laval, May 22, 2024 — For its38thseason, the Maison des arts de Laval invites the public to bold and intimate experiences as it unveils its new program of performing and visual arts. “In Laval, we are fortunate to have access to a venue for contemporary arts that stands out for the quality and diversity of its performances and exhibitions. I would like to congratulate the team that has made it possible, once again this year, to present this wonderful program. As the only professional, municipally-run venue in Laval with a prominent downtown location, the Maison des arts is a cornerstone that helps make the Montmorency district Laval’s cultural hub.”

The shows on the bill promise to deliver experiences that are as gripping as they are unique, including critically acclaimed productions. Highlights include Deux femmes en or, a free and contemporary adaptation of the 1970s comedy; the astonishing circus production Ghost Light: Between Falling and Flying; and Agamemnon in the Ring, a brilliant combination of theater and wrestling. In theater, La dernière cassette, a masterful solo performance by Violette Chauveau, offers a surprising portrait of André Brassard at the end of his life, whileIncendies, reimagined by sisters Elkahna and Ines Talbi, is a modern, feminist reinterpretation of this gem of Quebec drama. Contemporary dance will leave no one wanting with the new production Second Chances, and finally, Minuit quelque part will bring together 8 choreographers and 10 exceptional performers.
As for the youth program, in a welcoming, family-friendly environment, the lineup includes dance, puppetry, circus arts, as well as musical theater and clowning. Highlights include the dance production *Alexis*, a delightful choreographic epic, and *Concerto de bruits qui courent*, which joyfully celebrates the pleasure of play and laughter. The up-and-coming Laval-based company Les Marcels will present the object theater piece Et on campera sur la Lune. To end the season on a high note, the touching puppet show Coucou will be presented as part of the Petits bonheurs festival, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Exhibitions at the Alfred-Pellan Hall
The season will kick off with a bang with *L’éternité, si possible*, an artistic co-production with the Maison Abandonnée [Villa Cameline] in Nice, France. The exhibition will be presented in France in June and then in Laval in September.
