Tourisme Centre-du-Québec, Tourisme Laval, Tourisme Montérégie and Tourisme Outaouais continue their collaboration in business tourism

Laval, April 18, 2023 - Four of Quebec's tourism regions are joining forces to deploy a survey of tourists attending business events. The data obtained will enable them to estimate the value of a tourist staying for a business event in their respective regions.

Initiated by Tourisme Laval and supported by Tourisme Centre-du-Québec, Tourisme Montérégie and Tourisme Outaouais, this project aims to obtain reliable, up-to-date data to demonstrate the importance of this tourism sector to the regional economy. While data exists at the Quebec level, the mandate will enable us to obtain data that is not only more recent, but also specific to each of the four regions studied. To achieve these objectives, the mandate was entrusted to Segma Recherche. Several collaborations are underway with hoteliers and business event organizers. It should be noted that the data collection period will be staggered throughout the year to ensure the greatest possible representativeness.

In addition to generating revenue for hotels, resorts and convention centers, business tourism also benefits tourist attractions, restaurateurs and caterers, as well as suppliers of products and services dedicated to this sector. "This collective project will demonstrate the significant contribution of this customer segment to the regional economy by measuring this value in four regions using the same methodological parameters," says Geneviève Roy, President and CEO of Tourisme Laval.
