Zoom Art – Art Takes Center Stage in Advertising for Its 5th Edition

Laval, September 11, 2024 — The City of Laval invites residents to discover a unique urban art walk at the Concorde, Cartier, and Montmorency metro stations and on the streets near the Montmorency station. The art trail will be open from September 22 to October 13 as part of Zoom Art. The project will feature 39 images of contemporary artworks created by 16 artists from Laval, Quebec, and Canada, which will be displayed on advertising billboards. Under the theme “Stardust,” these works invite viewers to look up at the stars and pay tribute to astrophysicist Hubert Reeves (1932–2023), whose ideas transformed our relationship with the cosmos.

Featured Artists and Special Activities

Passersby traveling by active transportation, public transit, or car will be able to view images of works by the artists featured in the^5th edition: Fiona Annis, Simon Bertrand, Caroline Boileau, Catherine Bolduc, Eveline Boulva, Marie-Claude Bouthillier, Bertrand Carrière, Yannick De Serre, Hédy Gobaa, Josiane Lanthier, Rick Leong, Francis Macchiagodena, Paryse Martin, Yann Pocreau, Marie-Jeanne Musiol, and Denis Rousseau. In addition, the public is invited to join a guided walking tour led by the project curator, as well as meet-and-greet sessions with artists Caroline Boileau and Francis Macchiagodena, on September 29 as part ofthe Journées de la culture.

About Zoom Art   

Since 2019, this initiative by the City of Laval has been inviting residents to experience unexpected encounters and visual surprises. Zoom Art aligns with the objectives outlined in the Laval Region Cultural Development Plan (PDCRL) regarding the enhancement of cultural offerings. Earlier this year, the project also won the Culture and Development Award at the Les Arts et la Ville Awards in recognition of the exceptional artistic quality of its five editions.
