November is the month sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas—a sort of waiting room between two holidays. To turn these thirty days into something more than just a lull, here are 5 activities that will give the month a much-needed boost.
Did you enjoy *Survivor*? If so, you’ll probably love the Survivor Night at Collège Montmorency. On November 14, the school’s Tourism Technology students will treat you to a unique experience inspired by the TV show Survivor Québec, and Ghyslain Octeau-Piché, the winner of the second season, will be on hand to talk about his experience. With hands-on experiences with exotic animals and an insect tasting, the event goes beyond a simple conference—it’s also a chance to overcome your fears! And the best part is that this evening is dedicated to the Montmorency Foundation, and all proceeds will be donated to support the school’s initiatives.
For young explorers ages 7 to 13, the Cosmodome offers free workshops in partnership with Hydro-Québec every Saturday in November. Each week features a new theme to explore the mysteries of space: space exploration, rocket propulsion, and even how to survive in a zero-gravity environment!
Please note that space is limited, so book early for a morning of immersion in the fascinating world of aerospace. Who knows? Maybe a future astronaut or budding engineer will be born this fall in Laval.
Starting November 29, the evenings will light up in Centropolis, thanks to Instants illuminés, which will create a one-of-a-kind gathering spot. This digital bonfire, now even more spectacular and louder than last year, awaits you from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Get ready for an immersive experience that’s well worth seeing. And while you’re in downtown Laval, why not take the opportunity to grab a bite at a restaurant of your choice or simply go for a drink?
For a relaxing evening, come see to Simon Boulerice’s Christmas: Memories and Harmonies at the Théâtre Marcellin-Champagnat on November 30. A delightful blend of music, storytelling, and song, this production will immerse you in a poetic atmosphere. A true appetizer for the holiday season, this show plays with a range of emotions that would melt even the Grinch’s heart.
The story of Delphine, a young Wolastoqey girl searching for her grandfather’s drum, takes her into the spirit world of the forest. Along the way, she meets fantastical characters: a slightly grumpy porcupine, an opera-diva owl, and the kiwahq, a legendary beast with a heart of ice. This inspiring show, featuring Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, explores universal themes such as identity and cultural transmission. So, whether you’re new to theater or just looking to add a touch of fantasy to your November, Delphine Still Dreams is the show to see. It’s on November 17 at the Théâtre des Muses.
