Are you a plant lover? 3 greenhouses you absolutely must visit!

Spring is FINALLY on its way, and we’re not complaining about the snow melting! Just like every year, the warmer temperatures and gentler winds also signal the arrival of the first buds—nature coming back to life!

Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast, a fan of houseplants, or even a collector of rare plants, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve discovered three PERFECT spots in Laval for all plant lovers.

It’s no secret— I’m a crazy plant lady myself ! For the past few years, I’ve been collecting houseplants, ranging from the tiniest succulent to the magnificent Monstera. Anyone who stops by our place can confirm it: I’m now the owner of a little jungle!

First stop: Charbonneau the Expert

Late March is the perfect time to start sowing seeds. Haven’t planned this step yet? Don’t panic— Charbonneau L’Expert already has thousands of seedlings growing in the warmth of their greenhouses. Not only are they experts in this field (as their name suggests!), but they also offer a wide selection of annuals and some beautiful exotic specimens, such as stunning orchids.

As soon as I arrived, I was charmed by the small pond at the entrance to the greenhouse, where an adorable turtle was basking. The owner confirmed that this family-run business has been providing its customers with healthy vegetable and herb seedlings for over 60 years, in addition to offering the largest selection of flowers to beautify any type of yard. If you need inspiration for your landscaping, Charbonneau L’Expert is pretty much THE place!

Second stop: Serres Cléroux

Stepping into Serres Cléroux is a journey in itself! The friendly staff are passionate about what they do, and it shows. Here, you’re sure to find everything you ’re looking for in terms of variety. Whether for the garden or for indoors, thousands of products are available to suit EVERYONE’S tastes. I immediately came up withso many gift ideas…oops!

The huge space is divided into sections, and it’s very easy to find your way around, but be careful: you can easily spend several hours there because everything is so beautiful! Seriously, have we even talked about this incredible decor ? I definitely felt like I was in Costa Rica or Thailand—it’s worth going just for a delightful change of scenery.

Third stop: Serres Lavoie

Attention, attention, all you REAL rare plant enthusiasts: this is for you! Serres Lavoie are the absolute experts when it comes to hard-to-find varieties. I had a hard time not spending hundreds of dollars there… EVERY plant on my wish list is there ! Among other things, they offer a wide selection of giant cacti, plants that look like they came straight out of a fantasy movie, and even variegated succulents. This impressive selection leaves no one indifferent, and the staff is trained to help you choose the perfect plants to brighten up your spaces based on the light levels in your rooms.

The section near the registers is great for anyone looking to give small gifts related to the world of plants, without necessarily buying a plant itself. An adorable selection of pots and other unique items made by artists caught my eye. You can tell they have an eye for the little details, and that’s why we love coming back—they’re always bringing in new items!

If, after reading this, you don’t feel like getting even just one tiny cactus… then I haven’t been persuasive enough! Ha! Ha! I loved my visits to these three greenhouses, and I highly recommend them: plant shopping is truly like a form of Zen therapy. Plus, it’s so rewarding to watch them grow under our care.
