On March 17, the whole world celebrates St. Patrick’s Day by dressing in green, raising a glass, and paying tribute to Ireland and its traditions. And since you’re part of the world, don’t be the exception—add a touch of green to this special day by exploring Laval’s green spaces, before wrapping up the day with a good stout or an Irish whiskey!
While Ireland is known for its lush green landscapes, Laval can certainly boast of having at least the Nature Center, one of the largest green spaces in the region. For a chance to immerse yourself in the tranquility and beauty of the waning winter, a stroll along its well-maintained trails is not to be missed. Whether cross-country skiing, ice skating, or walking (which is more likely given the unpredictable weather), you can watch nature come to life and breathe in a good breath of fresh air. Don’t forget to say hello to the animals at the petting zoo—they’re so cute.
After warming up at the Nature Center, head to another of Laval’s natural gems: the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Park (PRMI), renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and its key role in protecting ecosystems. It’s the perfect place—even as winter winds down—to reconnect with nature and observe local wildlife. Bring your binoculars; you’ll be able to spot some birds and other shy animals. And to warm your feet, head inside and enjoy the exhibition "Unbelievable, but True!"— yet another opportunity to learn more about the life the river supports.
Make the most of your nature experience by heading to Bois de l’Équerre, a true oasis of tranquility and one of Laval’s most beautiful wooded trails. If you still have some energy left, take advantage of the several kilometers of trails available for a short walk—alone or with friends—amidst the mature trees. It’s a great way to catch your breath before diving into the most festive part of the day: the dark beer hunt.
After enjoying Laval’s green spaces to the fullest, it’s time to wrap up this St. Patrick’s Day celebration on a note of… dark beer or Scotch in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. To find THE perfect spot for you, head to Centropolis. You’re sure to find a cozy little restaurant or bar that can welcome you and quench your thirst just right on this March 17th.
