The Laval Firefighters’ Run to benefit the Quebec Firefighters Foundation. Never participated before? Put on your running shoes!
This is an extraordinary event. Why? You have to experience it for yourself to see just how magical it is. Can I challenge you? There are courses for everyone: 1 km, 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km, and 42.2 km.
Since 2013, it’s been our family’s favorite sporting event. Every year, more than fifteen members of our family take part. And every time, it’s a memorable experience.
Go ahead and give it a try! Do it for yourself, for your health, for your happiness. There’s no need to run fast. Just remember that no matter how slowly you run, you’ll always be faster than people sitting on their couches. And by the way, walkers are welcome too! My father, who is 72, isn’t the most athletic guy, but he’s a dad who loves to be active with his kids. He alternates between running and walking. Can I tell you how proud I am of him?
I have to admit that the whole family is eagerly awaiting the big day. Several of my nieces and nephews have even run their first race in a stroller, including my nephew Jackson. At 8 years old, he’s very proud to say that this will be his fifth time participating in the race this year.
This event brings people together. It’s an extraordinary experience. During the run, it’s exhilarating. You feel alive. You cheer each other on. You smile. You sweat. And when you cross the finish line and receive your medal, a sense of pride washes over you. And just like every year, we’ll be talking about it for the next 12 months!
It must be said that the atmosphere is absolutely delightful as we arrive at the heart of the Laval Firefighters’ Grand Festival.
The Big Firefighters' Festival will take place this year on May 31 and June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the grounds of Collège Montmorency, the brand-new venue for these two popular events.
On the agenda:
One piece of advice, though. To make the most of your visit, use public or alternative modes of transportation to get around. Carpooling, public transit (buses and the metro), biking, and walking—there are plenty of options! You can even rent a BIXI since Laval is now part of the BIXI bike-sharing network. There are 26 stations on the island where 80 electric-assist bikes and 215 regular bikes are available for rent.
By participating in the Firefighters’ Run, you’ll be running or walking for a good cause, as all proceeds go to the Quebec Firefighters’ Foundation, the only foundation dedicated to raising funds for severe burn victims in Quebec. The funds raised during the event will help finance the purchase of specialized equipment, research, a direct assistance fund for victims and their families, and a summer camp for children with severe burns.
For those who wish to take on an additional assignment, it is possible to participate in the rank program. Any participant who raises at least $75 is eligible to receive the rank of officer.
Shall we meet at the starting line? Every achievement begins with the decision to try.

This experience might just be the start of a new passion that will allow you to explore our beautiful city on foot. You’ll then be able to follow routes that take you past points of interest, such as the Church of Saint Rose of Lima, the Château Taillefer Lafon (the first winery in Quebec authorized to use the “Château” designation) or the Centre de la nature , which is one of the most beautiful urban parks in the region. And when you’re ready, you can take on the challenge of exploring the 21 checkpoints of the Rallye des rivières.
