Laval by Bike: A Getaway into Nature!

Starting point: Bernard-Landry Park

The getaway begins at Bernard-Landry Park, a true haven of peace in the heart of Laval. Before setting off, I take the time to relax by the lake with my partner. The picnic areas and green spaces are perfect for grabbing a bite to eat and observing the local flora and fauna. This serene space inspires and soothes, perfectly preparing my mind for the adventure ahead!

Directions to Gare de la Concorde

From Bernard-Landry Park, I head toward Gare de la Concorde to join the Route Verte and begin the Laval section. This route takes me far from the urban hustle and bustle, offering magical scenery, especially with the late-afternoon light that makes every view even more dazzling! Along the trail, more than once I exclaim and tell my boyfriend how happy I am to be exploring this route. Some spots are even covered in greenery and trees. You’d swear we’re miles away from the city.

Old Sainte-Rose

We then head to the charming neighborhood of Vieux-Sainte-Rose. Here, a gourmet stop is a must at the shop Les Minettes. I pick up two delicious appetizer boxes and some cold drinks for our picnic. We browse the shop, which specializes in local products, and I can’t resist picking up a few local treasures. The friendly and attentive staff are happy to tell me about new arrivals and help me choose my next summer wine. We’ll definitely be back to find unique, Quebec-made gifts.

Bathers' Beach

After stocking up on provisions, we hit the road again, heading toward the Berge des Baigneurs for a picnic by the water. This spot is idyllic, perfectly positioned to face the setting sun. We share the space with a few curious Canada geese and let the surrounding calm wash over us. I savor the delicious treats from the snack box I bought at Les Minettes while enjoying the view. What a lovely evening!

Return via the Green Route

We end the day on a high note by taking the Greenway for the ride home. The evening sky, with its unexpected colors reflected in the clouds, offers a magnificent sight. I pedal leisurely, soaking in the magic of this evening and the memories created throughout this ride. I’m thrilled to add this route to my list, as someone who loves spending time outdoors when the weather is this beautiful.

This urban bike ride through nature in Laval definitely offered me the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. An adventure I’d definitely do again!
