Certain places and experiences in Laval have a unique magic: they envelop you, comfort you, and leave a lasting impression. Here are a few spots where you can let yourself be pampered by beauty, warmth, and delicious flavors.
To let yourself be swept away by the arts is to step into spaces where you forget everything and lose yourself in music, colors, and stories. The Alfred-Pellan Hall at the Maison des arts de Laval, offers this unique escape where contemporary art stirs and awakens the senses, far from reality. You’ll find yourself transported by exhibitions that play with your perceptions and invite you to explore unexpected worlds. As for the Marcellin-Champagnat Theater, with its diverse program, presents plays that invite reflection and evoke emotions. And finally, there’s the André-Mathieu Hall , which is a sort of sanctuary where humor and music of all kinds come together on stage.
When you want to let yourself be carried away by the passage of time, Laval’s historic neighborhoods are the perfect havens where history and old-world charm coexist: Old Sainte-Rose, Old Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Old Saint-Martin, and Old Sainte-Dorothée tell the story of a bygone era and dazzle with their architecture, which looks as if it came straight out of a time machine. It’s also there that you’ll find splendid whose stained-glass windows and design leave visitors speechless. Places of worship, certainly, but also sites worth visiting for the stories they tell about our past.
Winter and the cold can be beaten by many things—like friendship, outdoor activities, and chocolate—but there’s also pasta. Yes, a good plate of pasta enjoyed in good company is truly comforting! In Laval, there’s no shortage of places to enjoy pasta, but we’ve spotted three that really stand out: the ravioli with smoked mozzarella, pesto, red bell pepper, and feta from Vertigo ; and the Penne Alla Gigi from Industria pizzeria + bar; and the Formaggia pink tagliatelle from Gatto Matto.
