When the cold sets in and the streets light up, Laval becomes a playground where Christmas markets transform the city into a life-size Advent calendar. Every weekend brings a new surprise with the scent of pine, twinkling lights, and delicious treats. Whether you’re strolling among the stalls, filling your bags with unique gifts, or simply treating yourself to a hot chocolate, these winter events promise a total immersion in the magic of the holidays.
At Serres Cléroux, poinsettias take the place of snowflakes, and the warmth of the greenhouses makes you forget the gloom of November. On November 22–23, the aisles fill with handmade crafts, comforting treats, and knowing smiles. You’ll even spot Santa Claus, sitting there to listen to the children’s wishes. Admission is free and parking is available on site, so you can spend a full day there without any hassle.
Starting November 14, the Ferme Marineau opens the doors to its Christmas wonderland. Between the twinkling lights, gift baskets filled with local products, and strolls through the shop where tourtières and frozen treats sit side by side, every turn exudes the holiday spirit. Santa Claus and his elves add a touch of magic that makes everyone’s eyes light up.
On the other side of the island, the Ferme Forget is setting up its country-style market. Here, you can pick out a natural Christmas tree, warm up by an outdoor fire, and search for gingerbread men hidden in the nooks and crannies. Inside the farm stand, you’ll find decorations and gift baskets offering endless ideas for sprucing up your home. And to extend your outing, a special happy hour on December 5 adds a unique twist to the experience.
The first market in the heart of Laval
Starting December 6, but this time at Espace Montmorency, a brand-new market is opening. Illuminated little houses create a sparkling village just steps from the metro and Place Bell. Gourmet foods, crafts, and a festive atmosphere come together in an urban setting right in the heart of downtown. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine an outing with friends, a nearby show, and a stroll among the stalls.
With so many markets spread out throughout November and December, it’s hard not to find a date that fits your schedule. Each location offers a different atmosphere, whether it’s the warmth of a greenhouse, the frosty outdoors, the riverfront, or the bustling downtown. The advantage is clear: every time you go out, you come back with a touch of magic and, often, bags full of little treats to give away or keep for yourself.
Starting December 5, the The Laval Christmas Market will be held at the Centre de la nature for two consecutive weekends. Imagine a path lined with illuminated little houses, where every stop offers a new surprise. A local producer sells artisanal jams, a craftswoman offers handmade jewelry, and further along, a cabin serves up sweet treats still warm from the oven. In addition to shopping, free activities bring a festive spirit that appeals to all generations. The natural setting adds a touch of magic that makes the stroll even more memorable
On December 6, the The Ma banlieue Pop-Up Market comes to life at the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Park Exploration Centre. About fifty local businesses showcase their creations in a winter setting with the river as a backdrop. Between purchases, you can stop for a hot coffee, watch the children play in the designated play area, or participate in a family workshop. This market combines the holiday spirit with the beauty of nature, making it an outing that blends shopping with the great outdoors.
Laval’s Christmas markets aren’t just places to shop—they’re moments to share and memories to make. Whether you go to meet Santa Claus, find a Christmas tree, or simply breathe in the fresh air with a hot drink in hand, every visit adds a page to your holiday album. This year, why not plan several stops and make Laval a must-visit destination this December?
