Brunch is all the rage. That was true in previous years, and it’s still going strong as we kick off this one. In 2025, it will reinvent itself, drawing inspiration from cuisines around the world, to the delight of every palate. But… What accounts for this timeless success? Simple: the fact that it offers us the best of both worlds—the heartiness of breakfast and the sophistication of lunch.
Whether you’re an early bird or a late riser, everyone loves the flexibility of brunch. No strict schedule—you show up whenever you like. Period. It’s the perfect time to get together with family or friends and share hearty dishes that invite you to explore new flavors. And, generally speaking, the bill is a little less steep than for dinner (and not just because of the wine).
This year, brunch will stand out for two things: comfort and culinary innovation. Three major trends are emerging:
International influences: Flavors from around the world enrich our meals. Chakchouka and Turkish-style eggs are perfect examples of this fusion of tradition and modernity. We’re experimenting with figs, roses, and dill to complement our dishes. It’s a true feast of flavors.
Shared meals: Say goodbye to food waste! Hello, shared meals! Not only are they more economical, but they also let us explore a wider range of flavors. Since we’re sharing—and at worst, we can just focus on what we like—why not give certain foods a try?
Sustainability and local sourcing: We eat what’s grown nearby or made just around the corner. We prioritize local products and freshness.
Here are a few must-visit spots to add to your GPS for your next brunch outing. Not only are they right near your home or hotel (for travelers), but they’re also totally on trend for the new year:
Les Enfants Terribles – Laval
If you love hearty brunches, this is THE place for you! The breakfast poutine is an absolute treat: melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork, crispy bacon, poached onions, golden fries, and cheese curds that melt just enough… Sound good?
La Bête à pain
Are you drawn to sweet treats and contrasting flavors? It’s hard to beat the creations at La Bête à pain. The poached pear pancake drizzled with salted butter caramel is a true delight for the taste buds, while the reinvented grilled cheese is a real shock to the palate! With its melt-in-your-mouth cheddar, apple chutney, crunchy pecans, and a touch of maple sugar, it’s a culinary journey no one will ever forget!
La Piazza Restaurant
The perfect spot for those who love slightly more refined dishes, La Piazza at the Sheraton Laval is definitely worth considering. With its lobster eggs Benedict and multicolored potatoes roasted in duck fat and rosemary (among other dishes), it adds a touch of luxury to the pleasure of brunching in good company.
Café Ricardo
Here, creativity meets quality! Just try the Turkish-style egg with squash (soft-boiled egg, feta, yogurt, and lemon oil spiced with harissa) to see what we mean. Or try the bagel with gravlax salmon and figs.
At Cora Breakfasts
Because in life, the great classics will always have a special place, you can always count on a sure thing. Generous, colorful plates—that’s just what you need for gray days or brunches with the kids.
Of course you can do anything with kids! Even have brunch at the fanciest places. However, to make sure everything goes smoothly, it’s always best to take a few precautions beforehand. For example, you can:
