The more we’re immersed in a particular environment and the more we’re exposed to science, the more likely we are to approach it with enthusiasm. That’s why, when working with young people, it’s important to focus on activities that make science appealing and fun! And Laval is a goldmine in this regard.
Armand Frappier, the man behind the institution, was a pioneer in vaccination. A visionary, scientist, and humanist, he dedicated his life to advancing medicine and science. While the museum’s original mission was to shed light on this extraordinary man, things have changed over time.
Today, the Armand-Frappier Health Museum features several exhibitions and activities that explore health from different perspectives. In its “Discoveries”section, accessible online, the museum offers a wealth of resources to help visitors explore the endless world of science and human health. It is undoubtedly the perfect place to draw inspiration from the life of a great man, demystify certain concepts, and exercise your mind in the spirit of science.
Here’s a must-see outing that’s sure to make you fall in love with science.
There are some places that capture your imagination even before you set foot there, and that’s certainly true of the Cosmodome. Just the name evokes a distant epic! And a single visit within its walls is enough to spark a passion for space exploration and scientific culture.
While you’re there, you can visit the permanent exhibition, where you can see satellites, replica rockets, a spacesuit from the Apollo era, and a host of other fascinating artifacts. Not to mention the training simulator and Mission Cosmo, a quest to determine whether life has developed or could have developed in the past on the moon Europa.
Climate change brings with it a host of challenges that require scientific solutions. To meet the challenge ahead of us, we will need all the minds we can muster.
To help your children—and the whole family—learn about the value of water, how it’s treated, and the future of our “blue gold,” there’s nothing better than a visit to the Water Interpretation Centre (C.I.EAU) in Laval. Through scavenger hunts, exhibits, and workshops, you’ll broaden your horizons. Who knows—a passion or a new calling might just take root.
Psst! Take this opportunity to get your young people involved by encouraging them to join the climate movement Generation Action !
The Rivière-des-Milles-Îles Park Exploration Centre, with its ecology laboratory and the Quebec Turtle Rehabilitation Center, is a treasure trove of educational information for anyone with even a passing interest in the environment and its ecosystems.
What is most likely to inspire budding scientists is the exhibition "Unbelievable, but True!" which offers a fresh perspective on the Thousand Islands River, highlighting its incredible biodiversity and the importance of this unique ecosystem.
To get children interested in science, you can also do a variety of science activities at home. Whether it’s volcanoes, rockets, or other experiments, the important thing is that discovery is always fun.
