This year, experience Easter in a different and exciting way. Here’s a list of unique activities to enjoy with friends or family over this long weekend. Don’t worry! Even though we’re suggesting some different things, we’ve still kept chocolate at the heart of our recommendations. After all, at Tourisme Laval, we know a surefire hit when we see one!
Try Pairing Wine and Chocolate
Whether as an aperitif or a digestif, a wine-and-chocolate pairing is definitely worth adding to your schedule. Of course, you can head to the a restaurant for a full-fledged gastronomic experience. However, you can also do your shopping in Laval and host a little evening at home to discover, for example, the subtle pairings between the flavors of wines carefully selected from Château Taillefer Lafon and the chocolates from Les Minettes | Marchandes de Gourmandises.
Experience an evening in workshop style
Biting into chocolate is great! But what’s even better is getting your hands dirty, just like the expression “getting your hands dirty.” Let’s celebrate chocolate and do it justice by signing up for theChocolate Introduction & Tasting Workshop hosted by Mam’zelle Joséphine! On Thursday and Friday evenings (for everyone ages 14 and up), we’ll explore, taste, nibble, and examine chocolate from every angle. It’s a great activity for the whole family!
To "put the egg in your mouth"
Eggs and Easter go hand in hand. Usually, we have fun decorating them, but what if we cooked them this time? And we can prepare them in all sorts of ways to literally stick to the saying. Hard-boiled, soft-boiled, sunny-side up, or in an omelet—the possibilities are endless. To accompany our culinary masterpieces—with cheese, herbs, or local produce—we’re taking a little trip to the farm Laval Lambs or to the Fromagerie du Vieux St-François. Of course, you can always treat yourself to an egg… made of chocolate!
Create a Springtime Atmosphere
Easter is synonymous with rebirth. And what better embodies this concept than spring? So, to bring the warm weather into our living room a little early, let’s head to the store À la Boîte à Fleurs to stock up on fresh (or artificial) flowers and create some stunning floral arrangements. And why not make a few extra to give to loved ones? While we’re there, let’s treat ourselves to a box of fine chocolates and a great cup of coffee to energize us for the rest of the day.
Indulge in the fun of hunting for cocos (since we’re on the subject)
Okay, fine, it’s a cliché. But an Easter egg hunt is so much fun, especially with the family. But here’s the thing: to stay true to our promise of originality, we invite you to first choose a place that’s a bit out of the ordinary, like the Bernard-Landry Park, the Bois Sainte-Dorothée, or the Papineau Woods, the Bois de l’Équerre, or the Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. Then, we hide clues or riddles that will lead the participants to the final location, where ALL the chocolate eggs are! They don’t have to be made of chocolate… but it’s better that way (according to our team of foodies)!
Visit the rabbits
Easter and bunnies are a perfect match. To enjoy seeing these cute little furry creatures, we’re heading to the Laval Nature Center. As a bonus, you can see other animals and go sledding, skiing, or ice skating while you’re there. Because, after all, holidays are also meant for getting some fresh air and having lots of fun.
