For a family getaway, Laval is the place to be
The Vie de Parent family recently spent some time in Laval. We visited many of the city's attractions to help you discover or rediscover this beautiful region. Here's a short guide to the must-see activities.
Part 1: Fun and movement
iSaute Laval
iSaute is a trampoline center that lets you burn off a lot of energy, spend some wonderful family time and celebrate a child's birthday in style! It's a hugely popular activity with young jumpers! The center offers a variety of challenging games and courses, including standard trampoline jumping, dodgeball, basketball and laser trampoline courses, as well as foam cube pits for the little ones.
Climbing Clip 'n climb Laval
Climbing Clip 'n climb Laval is a place that suggests a new, attractive and original way to climb. Each wall offers a unique climbing experience with a greater or lesser challenge. For example, dare to try the "blackligne" platform, the moving ladders, the circular platforms that move, and the big wooden slide, a special activity for which you need a $5 token. Here's a colorful climbing center where the staff is available and passionate!
Zone 15
Zone 15 brings together in one place such dazzling activities as a "lasergame", a fluorescent mini-golf course, arcades, a virtual reality arena, a racing simulator and more. It's the perfect place for a family outing, a children's party, but also to celebrate a party between adults. There's also an ice cream counter where you can buy ice cream, slush and a variety of snacks. What's more, the staff is available and attentive to visitors' needs.
Centropolis
CentropolisCentropolis is a true living environment, with stores, restaurants and various activity centers where young and old alike can have fun! The site is easily accessible by car, bus, cab or metro. Interestingly, parents will appreciate the amenities set up especially for families, including a beautiful and comfortable breastfeeding room with an armchair, a changing table and a microwave.
Center plein air Aventure Mille-Îles
Long live outdoor activities! Aventures Mille-Îles is the perfect place to recharge your batteries in the heart of nature, with forest walks, ice fishing and birdwatching. In winter, you can also enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skating, not to mention this year's great novelty, an educational tour of the outdoor center's alpacas, with prior reservation. An enchanting site to discover!
Fun and learning
Musée de la santé Armand-Frappier
Freshly renovated, the Musée de la santé Armand-Frappier offers a wide range of learning opportunities, in the form of games, in a vast space that's ideal for families. The museum features interactive stations, snake and ladder games (including scientific questions for youngsters), information stations on viruses and pathogens, simulations related to the human body and an incomparable scientific laboratory experiment on vaccine development. Well worth a visit!
Cosmodome
Visit Cosmodome is a must for families fascinated by space. An interactive adventure on the planet Mars takes families on a mission combining mini reports, mazes and challenges. The family-friendly venue features self-service changing rooms, places to eat, a mini-shop and plenty of room for strollers. Did you know that this is the only museum in Canada devoted entirely to space science? A visit is a must!
Laval Rocket
Every game, the Laval Rocket puts on quite a show on the ice. It's a chance to see this professional team, affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens, play a "game" at Place Bell. A large crowd, a lively atmosphere, players loved by fans and a reasonable price for the family are all good reasons to enjoy the experience. Take note that during spring break, tickets start at $15, so families can save money!
Part 3: Eating and sleeping
Café Ricardo
There's no more charming boutique café than Café Ricardo. The food is exquisite and the service is excellent! To tide them over before dinner, children are treated to magic tricks and coloring mats. The relaxing atmosphere and uncluttered decor of this café make it a place worth mentioning. What's more, the boutique adjacent to the café is a sure-fire hit with moms (and dads, too!) who have a weakness for kitchen accessories! No one will be disappointed!
Restaurant La Bête à Pain
Eat in a warm, farmhouse-style atmosphere. The smell of bread is enough to whet your appetite! The lunch and dinner menus at La Bête à Pain is simply incredible. There's an absolutely delicious eggs Benedict, a burrata platter, decadent mushroom toast and, for the kids, delicious choco-banana crepes! Accompany your meal with a juice, coffee or aperitif. And leave with fresh bread and muffins for the road!
