Have you ever wondered where the water in our bathtub at home comes from, or how we manage to purify it in such large quantities?
Whether you've already asked yourself this question, or are looking for answers to your children's thousand and one questions, a visit to the Water Interpretation Centre is a must!
This Laval museum, located in the heart of the picturesque Vieux Ste-Rose district, a stone's throw from the Berge des Baigneurs and the Mille Îles River, is constantly innovating and actively involved in its community.
C.I.EAU is delighted to present its many visitors with the Rivière Rivière immersive experience, designed to popularize the urban water cycle. Available at the museum until August 31, 2025, the temporary exhibition, whose mission is to raise awareness among young and old alike of the importance of preserving drinking water, will be touring various schools in the region.
Take advantage of your next visit to the Centre d'interprétation de l'eau de Laval to discover the immersive dome, where you'll be transported by projections combining digital art, education and science. Make yourself comfortable for 18 minutes and follow the life of a drop of water in an urban environment.
A visit to the Rivière Rivière exhibition would not be complete without a tour of the museum and the various areas to explore, including the Lab'eau, where science enthusiasts can get their hands dirty. The museum area welcomes inquisitive youngsters and their parents to discover the journey of water in the urban environment through C.I.EAU's flagship exhibition, Le chemin de l'eau: de la rivière à la rivière.
Although the themes covered appeal to a public of all ages, the youngest are particularly entertained by the Professor Hydraulix Rally and the All'eau photo rally, specially designed for children aged 5 to 7.
An original and relevant initiative that allows everyone to visit the museum at their own pace!
At the Centre d'interprétation de l'eau's famous Lab'eau, kids can don lab coats and slip into the shoes of real scientists for an experiment...or two!
Accompanied by enthusiasts in the field, the youngsters quickly become captivated by a subject most of them thought they had mastered. The water that flows from the tap at home may seem quite trivial to them...until they spend a morning at C.I.EAU. There, they become aware of the number of steps and human responsibility involved in every drop of this precious resource.
The Centre d'interprétation de l'eau website is packed with relevant information, as well as activities for the whole family to enjoy at home.
There are also a number of recommendations for those wishing to reduce their overuse of drinking water: simple gestures such as limiting the duration of showers to around ten minutes, or using rainwater to water the garden.
It's all possible: all you need is awareness and a little motivation to change your habits!
