This August, Laval will be all about Starmania! Why? Because—and this is a first in Canada—the famous rock opera will be performed at Place Bell in front of 5,800 spectators every night. Did you see it over forty years ago and are dying to see it again? Have you just discovered it and are burning with curiosity? Here’s your chance! And to make sure the event lives up to all the glitz and glamour of the show, plan a day (why settle for just one evening?) that’s straight out of Starmania!
Start your rock adventure by arriving early in Laval, Quebec’s third-largest city, located north of Montreal. Take a tour of Centropolis on foot, and enjoy the city as it slowly comes to life, soaking up the lively atmosphere and watching the shops open up—perfect for strolling or grabbing a cup of coffee (or a glass of juice or a full breakfast—don’t limit yourself right from the start) on a patio with good company.
When it’s time for dinner, do as the “businessmen” do and take a seat at one of Laval’s best restaurants for a gourmet experience that’s just what you’re looking for—whether it’s something casual or more refined. For example, why not try the Sesame or one of the many restaurants at theEspace Montmorency? And if you feel like it, after dinner, stop by the Hilton (those in the know will get it).
Don't be like the robot waitress—don't spend the rest of the day wondering what to do! If the weather's nice, head out into the countryside and go explore the farms and parks in Laval. Surrounded by nature, just a few minutes from the bustling city, you can get some fresh air, recharge your batteries, and even snack on local products—if you still have a little room left!
It's time to head to the hotel. Whether it's the Courtyard by Marriott (across from Place Bell), the Sheraton or the Holiday Inn Laval, you can take a moment just for yourself! Take a quick nap, enjoy the facilities (hello, pools and spas), change clothes, and even have a drink or a bite to eat before THE big moment. You’ll have energy to spare for the rest of the evening.
The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived! See you at Place Bell for an exceptional evening with Starmania. Together with the other 5,800 audience members, let yourself be swept away by the powerful voices of renowned singers and the breathtaking stage design of this legendary rock opera. Experience every emotion, every note, as if you were in Monopolis. You’ll see—the story, which was futuristic for its time (45 years ago), is more relevant today than ever. You won’t be able to help but applaud the genius of Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger.
To wrap up the evening—no, you won’t be dancing in Naziland, but in Laval! Head to one of the trendiest and most famous spots in town to dance the night away until the wee hours, or simply experience Laval by night by taking inspiration from our activity suggestions.
In Laval, getting around is easy and convenient, thanks to a network of accessible public transit , including the free 360 shuttle. Plus, you can get around easily using Bixi bikes and electric scooters available throughout the city. Unlike in the song “Quand on arrive en ville,” there won’t be any panic on the boulevards (trying to find parking), as Laval offers modern and eco-friendly transportation options that will let you explore every corner of the city hassle-free. However, those who choose to drive to the show can park in one of the available parking lots in the surrounding area.
