In the fall, in Laval, we don’t just carve pumpkins—we plan a full-fledged pumpkin adventure! Dive right into the spirit of the season by “picking” up some hidden treasures from our local farms and businesses!
At the Ferme Forget, pick-your-own season has been underway for quite some time now (since late June) with a variety of berries, sunflowers, and zinnias. But it’s not over yet—it continues with squash and pumpkins throughout the month of October. Head out to the fields, pick your own pumpkins, and enjoy the last flowers (and the last rays of sunshine) of the season.
Since this activity depends on the weather, which is beyond our control, please call the farm before you come. The voicemail message is updated to let you know the condition of the fields and the availability of products.
All aboard, heading to the Marineau Farm! Take a seat in their huge field filled with hundreds of pumpkins (nearly 20 varieties!) and pick out the best ones. Also, take advantage of the setting and the moment to relax in their straw lounges, watch singer-songwriter performances, play giant games, visit Grandma Pumpkin’s house, and enjoy the ma.gni.fi.c colors of fall. Perfection awaits you!
Be sure to stop by Café Marineau, which offers a farm-to-table menu, cocktails, beers, its famous sangria, and mocktails. Or enjoy an ice cream treat at their artisanal ice cream shop while watching the kids have fun at the farm-themed playground and meet the cute goats. The more adventurous among you can try their corn maze with puzzles.
Treat your taste buds to a little pumpkin treat. Stop by Les Minettes and discover two fantastic products: pumpkin seed oil and spiced pumpkin caramel. We love pumpkin seed oil for its health benefits, the fact that this unique oil is produced in Quebec, and because it tastes absolutely divine. On the other hand, we love the spiced pumpkin caramel for its sweetness and spices that taste like… fall! Add it to your coffee, spread it on a brioche, or eat it by the spoonful—a real treat this fall.
At Madame Bovary, it’s all in the details. And one of them didn’t escape our notice! To get a taste of fall (or simply to have an excuse to try this new spot), check out the menu and try their burrata! The famous Italian cheese is served on their French toast, topped with apricots, dates, a grape salsa, a pancetta chip, and basil oil with… pumpkin seeds (there’s the connection!).
