Arménie – Trait d’union entre hier et aujourd’hui

Salle André-Mathieu

Description

It is said that it was at the foot of Mount Ararat that Noah's Ark ran aground. The first traces of winegrowing date back over 6,000 years... Welcome to Armenia, the cradle of Christianity and humanity. From spectacular landscapes crowned with medieval churches to basaltic organs, Nicolas will take you on a journey of discovery through this thousand-year-old country.

Above all, Armenia is a people who have always preserved their identity despite the exodus and genocide of the early 20th century, a strength of character that gives them resilience and a sense of welcome. With a singular authenticity, our explorer will tell you all about what he has experienced, from the daily life of the Armenians, to traditional music such as the famous doudouk, to culinary specialties, to the many testimonies that each in its own way tell the story of this unique cultural heritage.

"A modern-day nomad" is how Nicolas Pernot defines himself. He enjoys exploring rarely-visited countries, immersing himself in places, cultures and meeting others. Since 2013, he has spent two years in Tajikistan and three on an island near Lake Baikal in Siberia. For Alain Wodey, the most important part of traveling is getting to know others. Since 1972, he has been traveling throughout Asia, and in particular northeast India and Indonesia, where he has spent many months sharing the daily lives of ethnic minorities.
