Nouvelle Lune

Cosmodome

Description

TEMPORARY EXHIBITION New Moon, a Smithsonian exhibition at Cosmodome!

New Moon, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution, features stunning large-scale photographs of the lunar surface captured by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LROC) camera between 2009 and 2015.
The highly detailed photographs reveal a surprisingly dynamic celestial neighbor full of grandeur. These images bear witness to a place with impact craters, recent volcanic activity and a crust fractured by the shrinkage of a still cooling interior. The images provide unique views of the lunar surface that help to answer questions about the Moon's formation and evolution, as well as revealing superb shapes both alien and familiar.
The exhibition is on display on the Cosmodome footbridge. Visitors can discover it from Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at a cost of $5 per person.
