Route 66 – Le mythe du rêve américain

Description

It's an old and seemingly abandoned road that crosses North America from Chicago to Los Angeles. For many, it's synonymous with nostalgia for the days of the gold rush and the conquest of the West. From Chicago blues to California rock and Missouri jazz, it's been the birthplace of so many musical influences. Christian invites you on a journey to the America of yesteryear, with its remnants of the Far West, where you'd almost expect to see Indians and cowboys.

But Route 66 is also the story of the farmers who, less than 100 years ago, had to leave their land to make a living, as Steinbeck so aptly recounts in his novel The Grapes of Wrath. Today, from desert canyons to Californian beaches, Route 66 is reinvented through the testimonies of those who are attached to it. They show us that rusty old Cadillac and those ghost town motels, but also the incredible works of art that artists have scattered across the desert, or the leather style and tattoos they proudly display.

Christian Vérot is a keen explorer of the wilderness, and has been sharing his passion for over thirty years, camera in hand. Today, he is also a hiking guide in the canyons of North America.
