The 7th annual Laval Beer Festival, July 14–16, 2023, at the Centre de la Nature
Laval, May 9, 2023 – On the occasion of the 7th edition of the LAVAL BEER FESTIVAL, the actor and author Alexandre Goyette, a proud spokesperson for the event since its inception, is pleased to invite the public to come and enjoy the beautiful summer days, the July 14–16 next at Laval Nature Center. More than 35,000 festivalgoers are expected to attend this major gathering of microbreweries. To satisfy even the most discerning connoisseurs, more than 85 local exhibitors—including 40 Quebec microbreweries—will be on hand for this 7th edition. Among them, 10 new microbreweries will be participating in the festival for the very first time.
In addition to being an event focused on discovery and tasting, the Laval Beer Festival aims to educate festivalgoers about the world of brewing while fostering connections with brewers from across Quebec. Microbreweries, local products, cideries, distilleries, food trucks, and more will be on hand to offer a diverse range of products.
MUSIC PROGRAMMING ON THE LOTO-QUÉBEC STAGE
The band Comment Debord will take the stage on Friday, July 14, starting at 8:00 p.m. Since forming in 2016, the band has been playing groovy, laid-back rock. Next up on stage will be Fred Fortin and his bandmates Gros Mené at 9:30 p.m. With heavy riffs and blues twisted to the max, the band will perform songs from their latest album as well as a few classics from their repertoire.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., Vanille—a project by singer-songwriter Rachel Leblanc—will take the stage with her songs steeped in 60s-inspired folk. Following that, at 9 p.m., it will be Acadian artist P’tit Béliveau’s turn. It was with this sense of knowing a little more about what he was doing that P’tit Béliveau released his second full-length album, Un homme et son piano, on April 1, 2022, via Bonsound. Connected to his fans through live streaming platforms like Twitch, where he creates beats, the artist continues to blend rustic and electronic sounds with a natural ease that never ceases to amaze.
This Saturday at 6:30 p.m., we’ll have the chance to discover the band Homebrew Remedy, whose music swings between ragtime and American folk. This Sunday at 3:00 p.m., it will be singer-songwriter JF Prud’homme’s turn to get us dancing.
HUMOR IS ALSO PART OF THE FUN
Comedy shows will also be presented on the Loto-Québec stage. On Friday at 6:30 p.m., the festival will have the pleasure of welcoming the excellent comedian Mélanie Couture, accompanied by none other than Erich Preach. A comedian, author, and novelist, Mélanie Couture is a pro at confident, uninhibited stand-up comedy. With her background in sexology, she tackles any topic with an iron fist in a velvet glove.
A dancer and entertainer, Erich turned to comedy a few years ago. He has gained stage experience by performing at numerous comedy shows and podcasts. Today, he is performing more and more frequently, while continuing to work as part of the duo Aba and Preach.
LA FESTIVALOISE – THE OFFICIAL BEER OF THE LAVAL BEER FESTIVAL
The official beer of the 7th edition of the Laval Beer Festival, La Festivaloise, will be the result of a collaboration between the Dieu du ciel! microbrewery and Les Insulaires Microbrasseurs. It will be available in early June at numerous retail locations throughout Quebec.
ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
The family zone will be back with entertainment, even more inflatable games, face painting, and plenty of fun for food lovers of all ages! The Randolph Animation team will be there with their giant games. Maniax will host axe throwing, and we’ll also have iSaute Laval on hand. An introductory circus workshop will be held on Saturday, and the mascots Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach will be there on Sunday at noon for a cuddle session.
A hot sauce competition will be hosted by La Pimenterie on Saturday at 5 p.m. True hot sauce fans are invited to register in advance to take on the challenge.
This year’s program features several lectures and workshops led by renowned beer experts, focusing in particular on pairing beer with local specialties. In addition, festivalgoers will have the chance to discover the art of brewing through a live brewing demonstration at the Moût International booth.
