Tourisme Laval Annual General Meeting - A year of challenges and achievements

Laval, June 16, 2022 - As part of its annual general meeting, held on June 15 at the enchanting Château Taillefer Lafon, Tourisme Laval presented its balance sheet and annual report for fiscal year 2021-2022.

For the second year running, the pandemic affected tourism. Against this backdrop, the destination nevertheless reported better results than the previous year. Some 770,955 tourists visited Laval, 60.6% more than in 2020. These generated tourist spending totalling $49.8 million, up 21.9% on the previous year. Despite measures restricting the number of gatherings, 21 conventions and events were held, and traffic at a dozen ticketed attractions was up 43.2%.

Among Tourisme Laval's main achievements are the management of the Business Tourism Development Fund for the whole of Quebec, the creation of a privileges program for tourism industry workers (Carte Avantages), involvement in a cohort of the Ecoleader Fund aimed at the eco-responsibility of events, the move towards a business intelligence service and the resumption of event planning.

It should also be noted that our promotional campaigns, enhanced by partnerships, effectively reached our customers, and that 87 million people were reached by our press relations activities. These achievements were made possible thanks to the enthusiastic collaboration of our members, the support of the City of Laval, the Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec, the Ministry of Tourism and the creativity of our team.
