BIXI back in force in Laval

20 stations and 215 bikes across the region

Laval, April 14, 2022 - The BIXI season in Laval is off to a great start, with a dazzling expansion of the self-service bike network. While last year began with 6 stations and 55 bikes, the new season takes off with 20 stations and 215 bikes, including 60 electric-assist bikes available every day, representing a more than threefold increase in supply.

Self-service bicycles, which will be gradually introduced in Laval from 2019, are a major addition to the range of transportation options available to citizens to improve their mobility and reduce their environmental footprint.

The expansion of the BIXI network will enable more Laval residents to use active transportation to get around, thereby reducing our environmental footprint. This is all the more relevant given that in Laval, 70% of greenhouse gas emissions come from motorized transport. BIXI bikes are available every year, as soon as the weather permits (or by April 15 at the latest) and until November 15. To facilitate your experience, we recommend that you download the BIXI mobile application beforehand, which is required to borrow an electric bike (as is the wearing of a helmet). Bikes can be dropped off at any BIXI station in Laval, Montreal or Longueuil.

Ville de Laval's acquisitions of stations and bicycles in 2021 have benefited from the financial participation of the Ministère des Transports as part of its financial assistance program for the development of self-service bicycles.
