Get moving! New exhibition at the Musée Armand-Frappier

Laval, August 13, 2020 - Starting September 26, 2020, the Musée Armand-Frappier will present its new temporary exhibition entitled "Bouger! Designed by the Musée, this exhibition will inform visitors about how the body works when it's in motion, and the effects of physical activity on health. It's an exhibition that's sure to make you want to move more, for health and pleasure!

The Move! exhibition
exhibition reminds us that moving is essential to staying healthy. But how important is it? What happens in the body when we move? What can we do to move more? Visitors will be invited to take action to answer these questions and many more! They can even drop by the Museum's laboratory, to further demystify the science behind physical activity .

An animated tour
Every Saturday in autumn, visitors of all ages can sign up for an animated tour , and enjoy a personalized presentation that complies with current health standards! Using sensors and other measuring instruments, both in the exhibition and in the lab, they'll discover the changes that take place in their bodies when they engage in physical activity, and why.

A scientific committee of experts
To ensure the rigor of the content, the Museum called on a committee of experts:
- Paquito Bernard, Professor, Department of Physical Activity Sciences, Université du Québec à Montréal,
- Louis Bherer, full professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and researcher at the Montreal Heart Institute Research Centre and the Centre for Preventive Medicine and Physical Activity (Centre ÉPIC),
- Éléonor Riesco, exercise physiologist and associate professor at the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Physical Activity Sciences,
- Dominique Tremblay, former Paralympic athlete, operations manager at the International Boccia Federation, trainer at Formation AlterGo and AMI-télé sports columnist,
- Laurent Turcot, professor of history at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada Research Chair in the History of Leisure and Entertainment.

In addition to these five experts, professionals from the Centre de médecine sportive de Laval, theInstitut Pacifique, as well as physical education and grade 5 teachers from École Simon-Vanier and their students were consulted in the development of some of the exhibition's content and its educational program.

Upcoming events ...
- Opening of the exhibition during the Semaine de la culture scientifique - September 26, 2020, from 10am to 5pm: Free tour of the exhibition (registration required) and Facebook live (at 10am).
- Journées de la culture scientifique - October 22, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m.: Free interactive virtual conference, "Everyone wins at moving as a family" (registration required).
