Grande Fête et Course des pompiers de Laval: a flamboyant return on June 4 and 5

Laval, May 4, 2022 - After a two-year absence, firefighters and Ville de Laval are looking forward to seeing the public again at the Grande Fête and Course des pompiers de Laval on June 4 and 5 at Centropolis, the focal point of both events. Young and old alike will be able to stroll around, take part in a number of interactive activities and, of course, run or walk for a good cause.

"What a pleasure it is to be back for another edition of the Grande Fête and the Firefighters' Run! I invite the public to participate in large numbers in the various activities promoting safety, fire prevention and healthy lifestyle habits. It's also an opportunity to meet and see in action Laval's firefighters, our everyday heroes.

Free activities and shows

On Saturday morning, the Grande Fête des pompiers kicks off with a spectacular parade of vintage fire trucks, sure to delight families. Then, throughout the weekend, in addition to activity and information booths, sensational demonstrations of firefighters in action (extrication, forced entry, roof rescue and more) will impress visitors.

There's plenty to keep the little ones entertained with mascots, face painting, strolling entertainers, inflatable games and a host of shows, including Ariane DesLions and her ADISQ-nominated songs, and Les Petites Tounes, whose reputation is well established.

Pompiers

On Sunday, the Course des pompiers de Laval benefiting the Fondation des pompiers du Québec pour les grands brûlés will bring together over 5,000 runners and walkers, beginners and advanced alike. They'll take to the streets of Laval on a fiery course offering distances of 1, 2, 5, 10, 21.1 and 42.2 km. The various routes follow the shores of Île Jésus and pass through some of Laval's most emblematic sites. They culminate at the heart of the Grande Fête des pompiers, in Centropolis, where every runner and walker will receive a medal.

For those unable to attend on the day of the event, the virtual race option is offered again this year between May 29 and June 12. In addition, companies wishing to mobilize their troops are invited to take part in the Corporate Challenge.
