Illumi: Canada's most popular and busiest ticketed event!

SOME 500,000 VISITORS WERE SWEPT AWAY BY THE MAGIC OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST MULTIMEDIA SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW!

LAVAL, QUEBEC (WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2020) @ILLUMICAVALIA - Illumi - Féerie de Lumières by Cavalia generated phenomenal traffic during its first edition in Laval, which ended on Sunday evening. Some 500,000 visitors registered at the turnstiles from November 8, 2019 to January 5, 2020, making Normand Latourelle's new multimedia project the most popular and busiest ticketed event of its kind in Canada.

By way of comparison, this traffic represents the combined number of Osheaga 2019 festival-goers, Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2019 spectators and Céline Dion fans who packed the Bell Centre for four nights last November. This number of paying visitors to Illumi far exceeds the initially estimated 250,000 visitors for the holiday season.

Illumi will be back for its second edition in Laval on November 1, 2020. There will be many surprises in store, including several new additions to the fantasy worlds that make up the Féerie de Lumières. Tickets for the second edition ofIllumi in Laval will go on sale on June 1, 2020.

Illumi is a major Quebec event, the only one of its kind in the world. Over 40% of visitors came from outside the greater Laval region (Laval, Montreal and the Laurentians). Tourists from the northern U.S. states, Quebec City, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, London, Paris, Brussels and Milan were among those who made the trip to Laval to enjoy and marvel at Illumi.

Illumi was the event whose photos and videos were most shared on Facebook and Instagram. The famous tunnel of lights at the start of the course Illumicourse, was a hit with millennials, with many praising it as the most Instagrammable fairytale space in Canada. On Facebook, the official page attracted over 26,000 followers in just a few weeks. OfIllumiPole to Infinity, where penguins, whales and igloos coexist amid an endless forest of stalagmites, is one of the most popular.

Illumi began its Laval nocturnal adventure on a high note; windstorms, record-breaking freezing temperatures from early November (as if January were already upon us), torrential rain, heavy snow and icy conditions put the 24,000 structures that make up IllumiNeedless to say, the elephants of the Multicolored Savannah and the pandas of the Magic Lanterns also had a taste of Quebec's winter weather! Although organizers were forced to postpone the official opening by a few days due to damage caused by extreme wind gusts, the world premiere attracted dozens of celebrities, thousands of VIP guests and the vast majority of Quebec media. Word of mouth spread quickly, and Illumi became the must-see event of 2019.

Illumi had its share of challenges during this first edition. Welcoming up to 18,000 visitors a night was no easy task, but on-site logistics, signage and access to the ten satellite parking lots improved dramatically in the first few weeks, thanks to dedicated teams committed to delivering a one-of-a-kind experience worthy of Cavalia's signature events and productions. The VIP and VIP + packages were a hit with customers, selling out most evenings, and over sixty corporate events and holiday celebrations were held under the Big Top. Illumi.

TheIllumi team says it's a privilege to have the opportunity to bring happiness and color to the lives of visitors, and it's important for them to spread this magic by contributing to the efforts of several non-profit organizations. Illumi partnered with the Fondation Cité de la Santé de Laval to support their annual fundraising campaign, and presented them with a cheque for $137,922. This amount will help finance the care and services offered at the CISSS de Laval. And more, Illumi donated over 5,300 free tickets to charitable organizations, including the Centre de bénévolat & moisson Laval and Le Rendez-Vous des Aîné(e)s.

Illumi would like to thank its valued partners and sponsors, without whom the realization of this project and its extraordinary success would not have been possible.
