Laval, February 1, 2024 - Every winter evening, starting at 7 p.m., Centropolis' Place Centrale is transformed into a majestic, animated digital campfire. The sound and light experience Instants illuminés experience was custom-designed by CR34TE, a Laval-based company renowned for its innovative international projects.
Fire has enabled humankind to develop, gather and create together. It symbolizes joy and evokes the warmth of human bonds. The concept of the experience is inspired by this symbolism and offers a moment of collective respite, a temporary refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our community is invited to come together and pause for a moment of illumination.
Centropolis teamed up with Artists' Central to renew its winter experiment. A call for projects was launched throughout the region's creative community, and led to an encounter with CR34TE.
"We immediately fell in love with their proposal," says Karine Rodrigue, Marketing Director, Laval and North Shore Region, Cominar. "The concept they presented perfectly captured the essence of our intention. This is the first time that CR34TE has brought one of its universes to life on Laval soil.
"We're delighted to be co-producers of this project, and underscore the importance of the collaboration with Centropolis," says Christine Huard, general and artistic director of Artists' Central. "This initiative is a perfect illustration of our shared commitment to promoting local art and culture, strengthening ties within our community."
Instants illuminés is made up of some sixty installations of LED luminaires designed to consume as little electricity as possible, making the installation energy-efficient. The tallest of these are 11.5 feet high.

La Centrale des artistes is a non-profit organization based in Laval. Its mission is to contribute to regional development by creating authentic cultural experiences and memorable moments for the public, in defiance of cultural desertification. La Centrale des artistes, a co-producer of the event, facilitated the meeting with CR34TE, and helped facilitate the organization and running of the project.

CR34TE is an internationally renowned Laval-based company specializing in LED integration for ambitious lighting projects. Constantly striving to push back the boundaries of what's possible, the CR34TE team custom-designed this project for Centropolis.
