Momo cultural station
The new cultural event of the fall season in Laval
Laval, August 16, 2023 - From August 26 to October1, the Momo cultural station will be the scene of some 30 cultural and artistic experiences. This new facility, located just off the Montmorency metro station, will be the cultural rendez-vous of the fall season for regulars, Laval residents and visitors alike.
"The Momo cultural station is an invitation to experience downtown Laval differently. It's a new stop for all Laval residents, a place where art and culture intermingle on a daily basis. It's also part of our commitment to making culture a driving force for development. In line with the Métamorphoses créatives vision, it will help make the Montmorency sector Laval's cultural hub.
- Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval
"The Momo cultural station is an original idea, combining culture, art and creation. Laval residents will be able to reclaim their downtown, which will become more dynamic thanks to this new public space designed for them as well as for thousands of visitors and local businesses."
- Christopher Skeete, Minister for the Economy, Minister responsible for the Fight against Racism and Minister responsible for the Laval region
Momo's cultural and artistic experiences will be presented in collaboration with multiple partners. Among the 30 or so activities and events on offer, we'd like to highlight Daily's interactive and participatory work Marche marche danse, [co]motion's daily artistic happy hours and the brand-new circus creation Vacances by Quebec company FLIP Fabrique.
Quintessence: culture and the four elements
Event design firm Aire Commune was responsible for the conceptual design of the Momo cultural station. Its inspiration came from the meeting of the four elements of nature and quintessence. The temporary layout, composed of four zones, offers a variety of experiences:
The FEU zone is a space for services and events;
The AIR zone includes a terrace for socializing and relaxing;
The WATER zone is a play area;
The TERRE zone features open-air work islands.
The whole forms a complete ensemble, an ostentatious micro-universe where nature and culture combine in the quintessential service of human and social experience.
