Laval, June 19, 2023 - Tourisme Laval has presented its annual report and financial statements for fiscal 2022-2023 at its Annual General Meeting, held on June 16 at Château Taillefer Lafon. With the return of visitors to Laval in force and a multitude of projects underway, enthusiasm is running high as all eyes turn to the future.

The year 2022, some revealing growth figures

The 1,427,700 tourists who visited the region represent an 85.2% increase over the previous year. The upturn in tourist spending was even more marked, at $104.7 million or 110.3% more than in 2021. A total of 136 events generating 40 or more overnight stays were held at Laval hotels, and traffic at a dozen attractions was up 57.8%. Press relations activities reached 214.9 million people, compared with 87 million in 2021.

A year of new links and developing levers

Over the course of the year, five (5) large-scale projects were supported by the new version of theEntente de partenariat régional et de transformation numérique en tourisme (EPRTNT), a program resulting from a collaboration between Tourisme Laval and the Ministry of Tourism, which also entrusted our organization with the management of the Fonds de développement en tourisme d'affaires (FDTA). As a result, support has been granted to some one hundred business events in 17 regions of Quebec. A project that required an incredible amount of analysis on the part of our teams.

In addition, thanks to the support provided by the Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie (MEIE) to Ville de Laval as part of the Downtown Economic Recovery Plan, two new initiatives have been launched to support the development and growth of Laval's tourism industry. The Passeport Attraits Laval program, involving 16 businesses, generated 9,886 visits and $274,941 in sales, while the Fonds de soutien du tourisme au centre-ville de Laval (FSTCV), with a budget of $500,000, supported four (4) projects in downtown Laval.

Launched with the support of Ville de Laval, the process of revitalizing business tourism by economic niche is taking off under the brand name L2L, from leader to leader. Over the past year, 25 ambassadors have been recruited.

In 2022, the "Carte Avantages - privilèges pour les pros du tourisme" program will be extended to the whole of Quebec, with the mobilization of 13 of the province's tourism regions.

In sports tourism, a new agreement with the Gold Medal Club encourages event organizers who choose Laval to inspire our region's youth with a variety of initiatives promoting a professional future that lives up to their dreams. A first in Quebec!

Another highlight of the year was the recognition of Tourisme Laval 's expertise in business tourism by the Ministry of Tourism, which entrusted it with the administration of a new $10 million envelope to attract more international business events to Quebec.

Effervescence is also evident on the marketing front. In 2022, Tourisme Laval continued its collaboration with the Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec on the Quebec and Ontario markets, in addition to its own campaigns, breathed life into by the commitment of eight partners in the enhancement of promotional initiatives.

This is just a glimpse of the many projects we've made possible thanks to the enthusiastic collaboration of our members, the support of the Ville de Laval, the Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec and the Ministère du Tourisme, and the creativity of our team, which has grown this year from 13 to 17 experts.
