Third Call for Proposals and Postponement of the Deadline for Event Submissions

Laval, March 9, 2022. —Tourisme Laval inform businesses throughout Quebec that are interested in applying for funding from the Business Tourism Development Fund (FDTA) that a third call for projects has been launched , which will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on April 8, 2022.

In addition, the deadline for event applications has been extended to March 31, 2023. Please note that eligible events must require a minimum investment of $50,000 and generate at least 40 overnight stays at commercial lodging establishments located in Quebec.

Launched by the Government of Quebec, the FDTA has a budget of $2.5 million, and its administration is handled by Tourisme Laval. For event organizers, the financial assistance provided can cover up to 50% of eligible expenses or a maximum of $25,000. This support for hosting business meetings, conventions, or trade shows is part of efforts to drive the growth of this sector.

                                             

Main objectives of the FDTA:

  • Boost demand for business events
  • Support organizers of business events, including associations, organizations (for-profit or nonprofit), cooperatives, and corporations in Quebec
  • Counteract the rise in costs caused by the pandemic
  • Help promote responsible and sustainable practices

Main eligible costs:

  • Certain fees 
  • Event-related rental fees
  • Food services
  • Costs associated with the health and safety measures implemented for the event
  • The costs associated with adopting best practices in sustainability and social responsibility
  • Accommodation costs for employees, volunteers, and event organizers
  • The non-refundable portion of taxes on eligible costs
