Petits bonheurs: An artistic opportunity to introduce young children to a colorful and playful world
Laval, March 25, 2024 - The Petits bonheurs festival, the cultural rendezvous for young children aged 0 to 6 and their families, will return to Laval from May 3 to 13. For this 14th edition, the City will be offering a wide range of activities, including shows and workshops, to enrich a top-notch multidisciplinary program. The varied program, designed by Maison des arts, will combine theater, puppetry, music, dance, exhibitions, storytelling, visual arts workshops, circus arts and much more.
"It's a great pleasure to offer young children and families from all socio-economic backgrounds privileged access to this wonderful festival. Thanks to affordable rates, everyone will be able to marvel at and discover the many quality activities offered in daycares, early childhood centers, community centers and other venues, in many areas of our beautiful city."
- Seta Topouzian, Renaud city councillor responsible for children's issues
"The Maison des arts de Laval offers a multidisciplinary and diversified range of events for young children, much to our delight. It plays an active and fundamental role in programming and presenting cultural activities for young Laval audiences. Families are invited to take part in this unique festival in large numbers, so that the youngest can discover the arts and awaken their curiosity.
- Flavia Alexandra Novac, Sainte-Rose city councillor in charge of cultural affairs
Cultural programming to delight the senses
Whether in the performing or visual arts, children will have the opportunity to awaken their creativity by attending, among others, the international show Chapeau la mer (La Manivelle, France). Also on the bill is the show Flots, tout ce qui brille voit (Théâtre des Confettis), which combines music, song and puppets. Music will also be featured in a new show for 0-18 months, Babula Laina (Tigouli - Emmanuelle Lisère), and in a unique rock concert experience for ages 2 and up with Le Potager (Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke). Returning from May 5 to 8 in the inner courtyard of the Maison des arts de Laval, Le Jardin des petites âmes, a playful and sensory interactive installation, will also fill you with wonder.
To stimulate the creativity and curiosity of young children, 14 workshops will be offered. From visual arts, storytelling and puppetry to dance, music and theater, circus workshops and a playful introduction to architecture, there's something for everyone. For mothers and their babies (3 to 11 months), an African and contemporary dance workshop is offered, where duos evolve at their own pace in a creative process focused on the present moment.
Tickets go on sale on April 6 at 6 a.m., and spaces for some shows and workshops will sell out fast.
Once again this year, the Bibliothèques de Laval, Cosmodome, the Centre d'interprétation de l'eau (C.I.EAU) and the Musée de la Santé Armand-Frappier will be offering new, free activities.
