Tourisme Centre-du-Québec, Tourisme Laval, Tourisme Montérégie and Tourisme Outaouais have joined forces to boost the development of business tourism.

Laval, September 1, 2021 - Four Quebec tourism regions will join forces to
to deploy a collective approach to prospecting, identifying and qualifying business tourism opportunities in business tourism in order to support hotels, convention sites and suppliers in their sales efforts.

This initiative which was initiated by Tourisme Laval and supported by Tourisme Centre-du-Québec, Tourisme Montérégie and
Tourisme Outaouais has for objective to generate overnight stays and direct and indirect spinoffs related to business events. As of September, a new resource will support the sales teams in the participating regions by updating databases, improving knowledge about the clientele and identifying business opportunities.

In addition to generating revenues for hotels, resorts and convention centres. business tourism benefits  In the broadest sense, business tourism, in addition to generating revenue for hotels, resorts and convention centres, also benefits tourist attractions, restaurants, caterers and catering product suppliers, as well as suppliers of products and services to conventions and business events.
According to Tourisme Affaires Québec (TAQ), business tourism is a major industry that generated, in 2019, $663.7 million in spending directly related to the organization of 3,449 business events across Quebec. The sector employed 27,000 people before the pandemic, thus contributing to the economic and social vitality of the regions.

"This collective project will effectively increase business tourism, which will directly address the needs of the RTAs and their members. This new and innovative structure creates a coherent canvassing force and allows us to expand our prospecting to new markets and new clienteles," said Genevière Roy, President and General Manager of Tourisme Laval.
