Tourisme Laval the winter with a massive ice sculpture at the Centre de la nature
LAVAL, January 29, 2024 – As part of the Laval en blanc festivities at the Centre de la nature, Tourisme Laval a massive ice sculpture last Saturday. This temporary artwork, shaped like a snowflake, promises to dazzle the thousands of visitors who come to the site to enjoy its exceptional winter offerings.
Tourisme Laval proud to have been selected by the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec, a partner of the Ministry of Tourism, to market the destination under the government brand Bonjour Québec, to celebrate the richness of Quebec’s winter heritage, featuring a “Bonjour” ice sculpture.
The massive ice snowflake erected near the Nature Centre’s ice rink is one of three iconic ice sculptures that adorn Quebec’s winter landscapes, alongside those at the Massif de Charlevoix and one of Tremblant’s peaks.
Tourisme Laval proud to promote the destination through art and nature. Helping to highlight the unique aspects of a Quebec winter means actively contributing to the promotion of our natural attractions, even in an urban setting. “This initiative is also an opportunity to highlight the joys of being active outdoors in winter and to invite residents to discover their Laval!” said Christine Métayer, President and CEO of Tourisme Laval, at the inauguration.

Laval is banking on its unique character
Tourisme Laval inspiration from the diversity and uniqueness of each snowflake to highlight the destination’s distinctiveness. The words “Bonjour Laval” represent the warm welcome extended by the people of Laval, while the giant snowflake—composed of multiple “L”s—emphasizes the diversity of Laval’s tourism brand.
The Nature Center, which attracts nearly 100,000 visitors each winter, has thus become a prime venue for promoting Laval through photos and posts on Laval’s social media channels using the hashtags #BonjourQuébec and #Tourismelaval
A work by Nicolas Godon
"The Snowflake" was created by Nicolas Godon, with the help of his father, Laurent. Ice sculpture, an art form practiced in Quebec since the 1890s, is an iconic symbol of our northern culture.
