Tourisme Laval lights up winter with a huge ice sculpture at the Centre de la nature

LAVAL, January 29, 2024 - As part of the Laval en blanc festivities at the Centre de la nature, Tourisme Laval inaugurated an immense ice sculpture last Saturday. This ephemeral work in the shape of a snowflake promises to dazzle the thousands of people who frequent this venue for its exceptional winter offerings.

Tourisme Laval is proud to have been chosen by the Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec, a partner of the Quebec Ministry of Tourism, to market the destination under the government brand Bonjour Québec. Bonjour Québecto celebrate Quebec's rich winter heritage, with the sculpting of a Bonjour in ice.

The immense ice snowflake erected near the Centre de la nature's skating rink is one of three iconic ice sculptures that grace Quebec's winter landscapes, alongside those of Le Massif de Charlevoix and one of Tremblant's peaks.

" Tourisme Laval is proud to promote the destination through art and nature. Contributing to the promotion of the distinctive elements of Quebec winter means actively participating in the enhancement of our natural attractions, even in urban settings. This initiative is also an opportunity to highlight the pleasures of being active outdoors in winter, and to invite the public to discover their Laval!" said Christine Métayer, President and CEO of Tourisme Laval, at the inauguration.

Laval capitalizes on its unique character

Tourisme Laval was inspired by the diversity and uniqueness of each snowflake to evoke the uniqueness of the destination. The words Bonjour Laval represent the warm welcome of the people of Laval, while the giant snowflake composed of multiple "L "s underscores the diversity of Laval's tourism brand.

The Centre de la nature, which attracts close to 100,000 visitors every winter, becomes a prime location for promoting Laval through photos and posts on Laval social media using the keywords #BonjourQuébec and #Tourismelaval.

A work by Nicolas Godon

The "Snowflake" was created by Nicolas Godon, with the support of his father, Laurent. Ice sculpture, an art practiced in Quebec since the 1890s, is an emblematic symbol of our northern culture.
