Tourisme Laval joins forces with Collège Montmorency and its Foundation in a project to support businesses and qualified student workers in the tourism industry

Laval, October 27, 2022 - Against the backdrop of the current labour shortage and a marked upturn in tourism, Tourisme Laval is joining forces with Collège Montmorency and its Foundation to offer the Parcours privilèges initiative , aimed at stimulating the next generation, filling staffing needs and helping to renew business practices within Laval's tourism industry.

Tourisme Laval plays a key role in linking the Tourism Techniques department at Collège Montmorency with its member companies wishing to host students for an exploratory internship, a work experience placement or to gain work experience.

" Tourisme Laval was delighted to initiate the Parcours privilèges project, which fits perfectly with our role as tourism development agent for Laval. The Parcours privilèges project is an excellent way of attracting and retaining qualified young tourism enthusiasts in our members' businesses, who will help propel our destination forward now and in the future," says Geneviève Roy, President and CEO of Tourisme Laval.

For its part, Collège Montmorency is keen to highlight the importance of acquiring high-quality, higher-level training in tourism techniques. Thanks to the Parcours privilèges program, the Collège is able to offer on-the-job apprenticeships, while helping to fill labour shortages in Laval's tourism businesses and giving them access to a new generation of know-how.

With the Parcours privilèges, the Tourism Techniques program has been enriched with an exceptionally valuable series of on-the-job experiences. This project will prove to be a major asset in attracting young people to study tourism, and in providing Laval's tourism businesses with a young, qualified workforce.

"I'm extremely enthusiastic about the Parcours privilèges project, which will enable us to raise funds and redistribute them in the community in the form of scholarships to students taking part in the Parcours privilèges. It's a unique opportunity for students in Tourism Techniques to have privileged contact with players in the Laval community," adds Marie-Eve Gervais, Executive Director of the Fondation du Collège Montmorency.
