First U-pick sunflower and zinnia field opens in Laval

LAVAL, August 6, 2021 - From now on, it will be possible to pick your own sunflowers and zinnias in the heart of the Laval region. Adding to the many activities already offered at Ferme Forget, picking these large yellow flowers is sure to be a highlight of summer 2021.

Pick-your-own will begin in the first days of August. However, we'll have to wait and see exactly when the field will open. "Everything will depend on the weather in the days leading up to it," explains Mathieu Forget, owner of Ferme Forget. He expects the season to last three weeks. All information regarding the dates of the activity will be transmitted via Ferme Forget's Facebook page and Instagram account.

For general admission to the site, visitors will be charged $4+tx for children (free for children aged 3 and under) and $8+tx for adults. Sunflowers and zinnias will be sold for $1 each (introductory offer). Pickers will also be offered a bucket to fill.

What's more, Ferme Forget will be offering visitors the chance to have their photo taken in a specially reserved area. With a photographer on site for the duration of the flowering period, customers will be able to leave with a magnificent photo souvenir of their visit, courtesy of Ferme Forget.

Affordable for the whole family, general admission to Ferme Forget also includes access to the other activities offered during the month of August: pick-your-own berries (strawberries, red and black raspberries, blueberries), squash and pumpkins, the giant daytime corn maze, the mini-farm, the Aire d'Interprétation Ludique - a play and learning area for the little ones - and the picnic area. Tickets for daytime activities are available directly from the kiosk.

A wonderful place to discover this summer!

About Ferme Forget :

Market gardening: The Forget family has been cultivating land in eastern Laval for 9 generations. In 2016, a kiosk open to the general public was created. In addition to the fruits and vegetables grown on the land, a host of products are added to the kiosk's offering over the following years. In 2019, a kitchen is set up directly at the kiosk so that part of the harvest can be transformed into homemade products. In winter 2020, two additional greenhouses go into production to meet the growing demand for local produce.

Agri-tourism activities: In 2018, the Forget family began offering agri-tourism activities for the whole family, including pick-your-own berries and a giant corn maze. The latter was a resounding success when it opened in August 2018. Since 2019, it has also been possible to enjoy the activity in the middle of the night, from 7pm, every Friday evening from the opening of the labyrinth - scheduled for July 31, 2021. Last year, the hundreds of tickets available each week on the Ferme Forget website were gone in just a few minutes. This year, the owners are expecting another huge turnout.
