Laval’s very first pick-your-own field for sunflowers and zinnias is opening

LAVAL, August 6, 2021 – Starting now, visitors can pick their own sunflowers and zinnias in the heart of the Laval region. As an addition to the many activities already offered at Forget Farm, picking these large yellow flowers is sure to be a highlight of the 2021 summer season.

Pick-your-own flowers will begin in early August. However, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to know the exact date the field opens. “It all depends on the weather in the days leading up to it,” explains Mathieu Forget, owner of Ferme Forget. He expects the season to last three weeks. All information regarding the dates of the activity will be posted on Ferme Forget’s Facebook page and Instagram account.

General admission to the site costs $4 plus tax for children (free for children 3 and under) and $8 plus tax for adults. Sunflowers and zinnias will be sold for $1 each (introductory offer). Pickers will also be able to purchase a bucket to fill.

In addition, Forget Farm will offer visitors the chance to have their picture taken in a specially designated area. With a photographer on site throughout the blooming season, guests can leave with a beautiful photo souvenir of their visit, courtesy of Forget Farm.

Affordable for the whole family, general admission to Forget Farm also includes access to other activities offered throughout August: pick-your-own berries (strawberries, red and black raspberries, blueberries), squash, and pumpkins; the giant daytime corn maze; the mini-farm; the Fun Learning Area—a play and learning space for little ones—as well as the picnic area. Tickets for daytime activities are available directly at the kiosk.

A beautiful place to explore this summer!

About Forget Farm:

Vegetable Farming: The Forget family has been farming the land in eastern Laval for nine generations. In 2016, they opened a stand to the general public. In addition to the fruits and vegetables grown on their land, a wide variety of products were added to the stand’s selection in the years that followed. In 2019, a kitchen was set up right at the stand to process part of the harvest into homemade products. In the winter of 2020, two additional greenhouses were put into production to meet the high demand for local produce.

Agritourism Activities: In 2018, the Forget family began offering agritourism activities for the whole family, including pick-your-own berries and a giant corn maze. The maze was a resounding success when it opened in August 2018. Since 2019, it has also been possible to experience the maze in complete darkness, starting at 7 p.m., every Friday evening once the maze opens—scheduled for July 31, 2021. Last year, the hundreds of tickets available each week on the Ferme Forget website sold out in just a few minutes. The owners are expecting another huge rush this year.
