A new BIXI season begins in Laval

By: Ville de Laval

26 stations with 295 bicycles available

Laval, April 17, 2023 - The BIXI season is underway in Laval, with the city's bike-sharing offer continuing to grow. To continue implementing measures to improve the mobility of Laval residents and reduce their environmental footprint, the City is adding six stations and 80 bikes this year, bringing the total to 26 stations and 295 bikes, including 80 electric-assist bikes.

BIXI self-service bicycles have been gradually introduced in Laval since 2019. In 2022, the number of transactions on the Laval network almost doubled compared with 2021, promising results for the coming seasons.

"Encouraging sustainable mobility on Laval territory is one of the orientations put forward by the Climate Plan, adopted at the last City Council of Laval. This orientation is aimed directly at reducing GHG emissions on the territory, 69% of which are caused by road transportation. The expansion of the BIXI network, which is gradually being extended to more neighbourhoods, makes bike sharing an attractive option for our commuting in a context where we must all find ways to act to fight climate change.

- Stéphane Boyer, Mayor of Laval

BIXI bikes are available every year as soon as the weather permits, by April 15 at the latest and until November 15. We recommend that you download the BIXI application on your mobile beforehand to facilitate your experience. The application is required to borrow an electric bike, as is the wearing of a helmet. Bikes can be dropped off at any of the BIXI stations in Laval, Montreal or Longueuil.

Ville de Laval acquired BIXI stations and bicycles in 2022 thanks to the financial support of Quebec's Transport Department through its financial assistance program for the development of self-service bicycling.
