VILLAGE LAVAL sets up shop in the Montmorency quadrangle from August 26 to September 19!

Laval, July 28, 2021 - [co]motion, agitateur de culture is proud to unveil Village Laval, a new chill space in the city, which will take over the Collège Montmorency parking lot from August 26 to September 19. This meeting place for relaxation and cultural discoveries will be able to accommodate almost 500 people, and will bring together two festivals (Festival Mosaïque Laval and LVL UP, lab numérique et musique) and affordable shows for the general public, all on the same site

" I'm delighted that we're able to offer the people of Laval a place where they can come together, where they can share, where they can live. A Village where different cultural and artistic universes intersect, all in a light setting that invites relaxation and comfort," confides Juli Meilleur, General Manager of [co]motion, agitateur de culture.

Village Laval was born of the need to breathe new life into the Montmorency quadrilateral and the desire to get together after a year alone in our thatched cottages. With a view to bringing people together , various stakeholders have joined forces to offer a month of cultural programming.

"We had this idea to extend (as a prelude) the site we're going to use for LVL UP, a digital and music lab in the heart of last summer, in the middle of a cultural and social desert. To make the performing arts accessible, to revitalize a quadrilateral through its culture, to create reunions between artists and audiences in a living environment: a village. All this while inviting other organizations to participate in the project, because it takes a village to get back to celebrating. That's what we wanted to do for this year's project. And maybe for the next few years," explains Steve Marcoux, programmer and creator of Village Laval.

In addition to the entertainment on offer, a beach-style bar area and an outdoor games area featuring popular Finnish bowling (Mölkky), washer ball and spikeball will be available to spectators, before making way for LVL UP's star attraction: the basketball court! It's all fun and games.

I'm proud that our government recognizes the creativity of our developers and supports them in realizing their ambitions, " says Caroline Proulx, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions.

" The creation of this new meeting place in the heart of Laval's downtown core, which will provide a unique opportunity for fun and socializing, is refreshing news.
