What a joy to have discovered the perfect getaway spot so close to home!

From the moment I walked through the doors of the Sheraton Laval, I was blown away. I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful place. The impeccably designed, open and multifunctional spaces are inviting, and you immediately want to stay there. These spaces have been beautifully designed to encourage both hotel guests and Laval residents to come and spend time there. During my stay, I could see that mission accomplished!

La Spesa Gourmet Market immediately caught my eye. It’s a beautiful open-concept shop offering a wide selection of fine foods and treats of all kinds, as well as a counter where specialty coffees, salads, and sandwiches are prepared on the spot. There’s even an ice cream Vespa!

I was able to bring my snack to enjoy in the sun on the terrace in front of the Laval Convention Center, which is part of the hotel.

While waiting for my partner, I took the opportunity to walk over to the beautiful CF Carrefour Laval, which shares part of the hotel’s free parking lot. This enormous shopping center, with its exceptional spaces, features stores of all kinds, including many major designers. The mall was bustling with people, just like Centropolis , for that matter—another lively and pleasant place to stroll among the locals who also enjoy the area, which is located just a few minutes’ walk from theSheraton Hotel.

On Saturday night, we started by enjoying a delicious, perfectly balanced cocktail that was just to our taste at Bar La Cupola. We challenged Sylvain, our mixologist for the evening, by asking him to surprise us with a second cocktail—one that wasn’t on the menu—and giving him very few instructions. He delighted us with his creation, which ended up being my favorite cocktail.

Next, our maître d’hôtel, Marco, assigned us a table for the signature dinner on Saturday evening at La Piazza restaurant , where they serve an exceptional gourmet buffet. There was a huge selection of cheeses, cold cuts, salads, hot dishes, and more. We also got to choose a main course worthy of the finest restaurants. Our favorites: the truffle gnocchi, the shrimp risotto with lobster bisque, and the cold shrimp salad—not to mention the massive dessert table, where the star for us was the exceptional strawberry cheesecake! I chatted with Mark, the friendly sous-chef who was making sure the buffet guests were satisfied. He seemed very proud of his restaurant’s culinary offerings. And rightly so!

The atmosphere was festive, thanks to a talented and versatile musical duo. We learned that for happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays, a DJ is on handto get the crowd moving.

Marco came back to see us several times. He told us interesting stories about the hotel, the buffet, and even the microbrewery where my partner’s beer came from. He was warm, attentive, and just the right amount of hands-on.

This kind of service seems to be the norm at the Sheraton Laval, as we had the same pleasant experience with François, the maître d’ for breakfast and Sunday brunch. Noemy, our waitress at brunch, was also particularly attentive and demonstrated a level of hospitality that impressed me by anticipating one of my requests.

By the way, a quick word about brunch. It was simply delicious! In addition to the cheese, charcuterie, salad, hot dish, and dessert stations, we got to enjoy some delicious traditional breakfast dishes. Our favorites: pudding chômeur, ricotta-stuffed shells, and lobster eggs Benedict!

When it comes to pampering, a wide variety of treatments are available at Amerispa, a full-service spa located in the hotel. And even if you don’t have the chance to visit, you can still enjoy the benefits of a Scandinavian-style wellness circuit in the hotel’s wellness area, which features a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a cold shower, and lounge chairs. Everything you need to fully unwind!

If you’re someone who likes to combine business with pleasure, I highly recommend adding the Corporate Club option to your reservation. This will give you access to a beautiful lounge where you can enjoy happy hour, a hearty breakfast, and coffee and beverages all day long. It’s a peaceful retreat right in the heart of the action.

What stands out most from my romantic getaway at the Sheraton Laval is the wide variety of activities available, making it the perfect short romantic getaway for everyone.

Whether you want to relax in your own little world or meet locals at a trendy spot, enjoy a wellness-focused getaway or a mix of activities and shopping, or choose between a gourmet dining experience, a quiet meal in your room, or simply grabbing a quick bite, the Sheraton Laval has everything you need right on-site or just a stone’s throw from the hotel.
