We love winter for a whole host of different—and sometimes even a little silly—reasons (e.g., because we can spend 12 hours binge-watching a TV show without feeling guilty). However, we rarely mention having to shovel snow off our cars and wait forever for the windows to defrost. So, stick to the joys of winter and leave your car at home.
Take public transit to Laval and arrive practically right at the doorstep of your favorite activities.
There is a wide range of activities centered around the Cartier metro station. There’s something for everyone, starting with the Délia-Tétreault Museum , which immerses visitors in the captivating story of Canada’s first female missionary. Next, for fans of retro sports, there’s the BG Laval 2000 Bowling Alley located nearby, as well as the Bleu Blanc Bouge ice rink or the Bernard-Landry Park for those who want a little more action.
Finally, starting from the Cartier station, you can also treat your taste buds by visiting Kyomi (hello to fine Asian cuisine) and at Les Insulaires Microbrewery (where you can enjoy incredible craft beer from Laval).
Located on (surprise!) Boulevard de la Concorde, the station of the same name opened in 2007. From this station, you can easily grab a poutine at Gérard’s or get some fresh air at Parc des Prairies. Best of all, this is where you can head to the Maison des arts de Laval, one of Laval’s hidden cultural gems. Whether you want to catch a play or stroll through an art gallery, this is a must-visit destination to add to your itinerary.
The Montmorency station leads to a true hub of cultural activities and entertainment. Just a stone's throw from the metro is the Salle André-Mathieu, the perfect place to catch a comedy or music show, not to mention Place Bell , which hardly needs any introduction. As everyone knows, that’s THE place to go to catch a Rocket game. It’s also where you head to grab a bite to eat at restaurants like the Gatto Matto, the Spicebros or Westwood, to name just a few.
