Soup is the cure-all. It soothes minor aches and pains, warms chilled bodies after a few happy hours playing in the snow, and even helps fight winter colds. Whether with vegetables, peas or pistou, we love it unconditionally. But our favorite, in Laval, is onion. At least during the cold season. Here are some of our favorites.
The Insulaires Microbrasseurs have been dazzling us with their craft beers for years. Now they've done it again, serving up an onion soup with La Péninsule red ale and two cheeses au gratin. Rarely have you tasted a soup so tasty and surprising at the same time.
Les Enfants Terribles Brasserie have also realized that a winter without onion soup on the menu isn't really a winter at all. For the season, the place offers a stunning onion soup au gratin as a starter. To round off the meal, indulge in the three-cheese Mac & Cheese with kale and bacon. To wash it all down, put on your best boots and take a walk in the Centropolis. Winter nuggets await you.
First, you have to try the one from Le Tire-Bouchon Bistro Parisien. Tire-Bouchon Bistro Parisien. The soupe gratinée à l'oignon des Halles, from its full name, is a true Parisian icon. Covered with a slice of bread and cheese, it tastes downright heavenly. The fascinating thing about this kind of meal is that it's just as appropriate for lunch as it is for dinner.
What could be better than the classic of classics? Onion soup from Edmond Bistro tastes of childhood memories and comfort. With a hint of beer and Swiss cheese, our taste buds are sure to love it. As an accompaniment, let yourself be tempted by a small glass of red wine from the à la carte menu. A different way to round off a wonderful day in Laval.
