No choice but to stop pedaling: bike stops in Laval
Every time I get on my bike, I enjoy myself. I love pedaling. Sometimes I ride without really knowing where I'm going, and along the way I make some wonderful discoveries. Other times, I'm riding towards a specific destination. I must admit that with children, this is the option I prefer. When you've reached a goal, it's a chance to crown your efforts.
Recently, my twin Annick and I took to the streets of Laval. We set off from rue Riviera, near the Arthur-Sauvé bridge, and took to the bike path, which led us along boulevards Sainte-Rose and des Mille-Îles. Along the way, we admired some beautiful scenery and found some good places to take a well-deserved break.
À la Boîte à Fleurs
At Boîte à Fleursit's not all flowers! There's also the Espace Gourmet, where you can enjoy coffees, chocolates, pastries, cheeses, salads and sandwiches on the indoor or outdoor terrace. If you've got panniers on your bike, you can even have a box lunch prepared for a picnic. For our part, we enjoyed an iced coffee.
At the Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
Visit Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is a place that never ceases to charm me. I love observing nature, with its flowering marshes, lush vegetation and all its inhabitants, including different species of birds and fish. And if you're lucky, you can even see beavers and turtles.
Needless to say, it's the perfect spot for a picnic (with a lunch purchased at the Flower Box), to enjoy a snack and a sip of water while observing the flora and fauna, or even to set off on a voyage of discovery on foot, by canoe, kayak or rabaska. Did you know that of the river's 101 islands, some 20 are accessible from the park?

Take advantage of the six ephemeral installations throughout Laval. These comfortable public spaces are perfect for taking a break during the mild season. Visit the stop on your route.

Finish the road with an ice cream
After a long bike ride, reward your efforts with a refreshing snack. You'll probably come across several creameries along the way. I particularly suggest Pineault Creamery for its cones twisted into up to three flavors of soft-serve ice cream. If you're a gelato lover, you absolutely must try Dolce & Santella 's gelato, which comes in over 24 flavors.
